My daughter spilled a glass of water on her Kodak digital camera & now it won't work! It came on once after it happened, when she dried it out, but now it won't come on at all. Nothing seems to be able to bring it back to life. Any suggestions on what to try to get it to work....or if ya'll have any suggestions on an honest inexpensive digital camera repair shop in or close to Katy??? Its not a terribly expensive camera so I really don't want to spend more than its worth to have it fixed. Its just that she really loves this camera. I would really appreciate any input ya'll could give...Thanks!

I know how to use the equipment but not how to fix it. Not coming on at all doesn't sound good though.

If this was a cheap point-n-shoot I wouldn't bother trying to get anyone to fix it. You'd likely spend as much money buying a new camera that's probably better than the old one.

Honestly, it would be less expensive just to buy a used or refurbished model on Ebay or some other outlet store online. How much did you pay for it new & how long ago was this? Digital camera technology changes so fast, you're likely to get a much better camera now & spend less money than you paid for that one brand new.

There are zero digital camera repair shops...in Katy or almost anywhere. Especially for a point and shoot. And if you sent it back to Kodak unless it is under warranty (even if it is, they'll consider it accidental damage) it will cost you well over $100 to repair. Trust me on this...go buy a new camera. I'm a professional photographer.

best camera repair shop in the Houston area is camera care center off richmond and shepherd. as stated, it is going to cost you more then the camera is probably worth though. i have several cameras that i have taken to CCC for cleaning and so on. i have a nikon d100 i converted to infrared and had to have the back repaired before the conversion. CCC does a great job, quick and reasonable.

throw it away, and buy a new one.

Thank you all for your input. I thought that this was what everybody would say...I thought it myself....but this site is usually pretty good about an answer for everything. I was just holding out hope that somebody would have a "miracle" fix LOL! My daughter doesn't want to throw it away...she said she'll take it apart 1st. Who knows maybe I'll be able to post a "miracle" fix in the near future! LOL.....So I guess I'm on my way to buy a new camera! Thank you for taking time to respond!

Even I have/had the same problem, I dropped my Canon SD850IS ($300 bought price in 2007) and the repair cost was $120 instead I bought a new Canon SD1200 IS for $88, a slick deal. Let me know if theres a good digital camera repair shop in Houston.

Might not be a bad thing if she wants to know how they work inside. It'll still be good for that. I may do the same when it's time to retire my Coolpix L4 - the one I use for all the photos here - bought in mid-2006. It might as well be from the Stone Age as digital cameras go.

Try leaving it in a bag of rice for a few days.

I still have my old Olympus 5 MP (first one to come out with 5 MP's) digital camera I got for Christmas back in 2002, that thing is built like a tank & weighs as much as one too. LOL
