There was an awesome Chinese restaurant in podunk Johnston County, North Carolina where I was living for awhile. Nothing surprises me anymore.

Went online to look at it - not much to look at but again I guess looks can be deceiving but I have never eaten there so I can't comment on it one way or the other.

I'm not surprised at all. There are so many restaurants in this city, that some actually go unnoticed for some time. Just like this place, the decor may be sparse, but the food is great! Some people miss out on these places because they are scared of the neighborhoods or other reasons.

There are two places that really surprised me in Houston. The first one is 888 over on 45 South by Gulfgate. I went in for lunch because it was close, and I could believe the Lo-Mein I got, haha.

The second place is a Japanese Restaurant called Genji's(I love this place!). It is a Karaoke/Bar/Restaurant. The food in this place has more of a true Japanese style. I had Miso Soup and Sake and many other things that are pretty authentic. My date had this Rice, Shrimp, and Broccoli bowl that was pretty good. Sorry I am forgetting the names of the dishes, haha.

The clientele in Genji's is heavily Asian. Which is a good thing to me. I always say that if there is a ethnic restaurant and the people that are of the same ethnicity aren't eating there, then you might not want to get your hopes up on the quality haha.

I also just found out that there is a Tea House right around the corner from my place that I never knew was there. I have been living here for almost a year. I can't wait to check this place out. It is really, really small, but maybe it will be a gem. Then I can go almost everyday to just relax. *Crosses Fingers*

My favorite Chinese restaurant in Chicago is owned by Puerto Ricans.

Definitely not much to look at outside or inside but the food is good. Been there plenty of times, before and after they bought it. Definitely better after they bought it. It was a dive before. Gets crowded at lunch because the plant workers often eat there.

The taco I ate while shooting for that thread the other day was made by a Chinese lady.

Lmao! I know for certain that tons of Chinese restaurants have Mexican cooks in the back. Doesn't bother me one bit. If they can cook, then I'm eating.

I can make pretty decent tacos for a gringo. Never tried my hand at moo goo gai pan though.
