I've had a few of the green anoles in the house... but my son likes to catch them, and I know at least one of them was one he brought inside.

The geckos I only see outside at night hanging out around our porch/garage lights.

I also will see little garden skinks when mowing the lawn or hanging out on the patio.

I have yet to see a snake, but animal control did come out and kill a cottonmouth a few months ago that crawled out of our yard and across the street into our neighbors.

Bottom line, if you can't handle occasionally coming across a lizard... don't come here.

Saw a little lizard run across the door frame the day I moved here. Haven't seen one since, though. I wasn't afraid of him, but he sure ran from me. If seeing one occasionally isn't a big deal, you're ok. If it'll freak you out, life's too short and its not worth it.

Moved here last summer, have a pool and we didn't have any inside and quite honestly only saw a few outside. If you are worried about snakes they have something called Snake Away at Lowes, but you can do the same thing with some mothballs.

Thanks for the reply. I think it's more of a stereotype that Houston is a reptile haven. There's so much good news about Houston that we have been tempted to look for oppurtunites there. After dwelving deep into my research, I found that lizards and bugs are big problem there. Anyways, thanks for your time.

Get a cat, and you will have none of those little green lizards.

True ^^ get a cat. But remember that those geckos eat spiders and roaches. They are an environmentally safe pesticide I know you didn't want to hear it, but geckos are about as harmless as you can get. Now the green lizards bite, and it feels like you are getting pinched, but you have to actually catch one and pick it up before you are in any danger of that!

Cats are worse than the roaches and the lizards. A good dog can solve the problem too. Kind nips the whole circle of life thing in the bud.

roach>gecko>cat>dog

Avoidance makes phobias worse, while exposure often cures them. For people absolutely too freaked out to do in vivo exposure therapy, they even have virtual reality exposure therapy using computer software.
