Try SSS (Skin So Soft) from AVON...mosquitoes HATE it! Mosquitoes love to suck my blood! SSS is the only thing that really keeps them away...they HATE SSS!

Malathion concentrate, diluted in a spray can. Then mist your patio. Stinks for a little while but works well.

Default Always here...

This is Houston, they will always be here, no matter how many you kill one hour, they'll be back the next. Unfortunately, you've no choice but to live with with them so long as you live here. You can mitigate their presence, but they'll just come over from your neighbors yard.

Organic solutions:
  1. Use hands to swat mosquitos
  2. Breathe less. Mosquitos are attracted to carbon dioxide in your breath.
  3. Eat more spicy foods, or highly seasoned foods, i.e. w/garlic. Mosquitos seem to really love the milk drinkers and people with bland diets.
  4. Hang out with people who eat blander diets than yours. Mosquitos will go for them first.
  5. Wear loose light-colored clothing, preferably long-sleeved shirts, and long pants.
  6. Screen in your porch/backyard. A more expensive solution, but worth it because you'll have the use of your backyard again. Plus it gives your plants extra protection during the hot summers. My in-laws did this, and it was the best decision they ever made. Now they have a beautiful backyard, because they can go outside and garden to their hearts' content. We have backyard parties all the time at their place .
oh... and the skin so soft from avon absolutely didn't work for me. It worked like extra flavoring to the mosquitoes! (Cutter and other bug sprays really work, if you're desperate, or if you have to go out in the woods. A little poison on your clothes, but you can wash off later, and better than getting west nile virus or some other disease)

They are crane flies and there were a ton of them this weekend near us.

Why would you want to get rid of mosquito eaters?
