I don't have my complete score back yet (as in, the essays). I hate vocab though, and kind of blew that off. I got a 570 verbal and a 700 quantitative. In retrospect, I had PLENTY of time, and should have applied myself better on the vocab. *shrug* I'm not paying $150 to do it again when my score's high enough to get me into pretty much any school.
Kess, thanks for that. I have met him before, but I doubt he'd remember me. I'll have to keep that in mind at the end of the year when I start applying for grad schools.
It really helps if you visit and discuss projects with him before applying. It really increases your chances directly of getting in. Oh, if youre doing amphibian work, I can put you in touch with some of the grads working in that area now.
Thanks for that. I've got a couple of contacts. I've also done some work with the Cheat Mountain salamander, which is Dr. Pauley's pet project, and my current boss is one of his former grad students.
I'm not sure I want to work directly with salamanders. They're my hobby. To do them for a living would take all the novelty out of having them for fun. I'm more interested in 'forest/wetland/upland/whatever ecology and changes and its effects on wildlife' type projects.
The little slimy one, not the big smelly one. Although I enjoy both of them equally. Two hobbies, not especially girly. No wonder my only female friend is a fish biologist...
I got my 'essay' GRE score back. 4.5 out of 6. Booo! I thought I pulled at least a 5.
