We are going to make a weekend trip to Huntsville to decide if we like the area before accepting new jobs.

What can you tell me about what areas to be sure I see while we are there? We have limited time--Friday night and all day Saturday only.

We plan to look at some houses, and drive around Madison as well.

Depends on your price range, your needs, and where your jobs are located and how close you want to be. List some, please. And welcome!

Here's what mercii wrote in an earlier post:

Hello 'Bama!
Husband and I (and our 1-year-old son) are looking to relocate to the Huntsville area. We are looking for neighborhoods that are newer (less than 10 years old) and without houses on top of each other (we like a small to medium-sized yard and don't want to have neighbors three feet away).

Our range is $250-$275,000. Also, because of our son, we are hoping for good schools, and for me, we want to be close to shopping and close to Redstone for hubby.

Any suggestions????

Ah, thanks nalabama. Madison would be the place. Although they might check that far end of Huntsville, at the western edge of the arsenal. I have a friend who teaches at that school (can't remember the name, though) and I know it's a Huntsville city school. There are some older neighborhoods in that area, too, with pretty reasonable prices. Prices in that whole area are climbing, though.

Thanks for the help! Madison is definitely the area I'm leaning towards. Are there any zip codes that should be avoided in Madison or any that are better than others?

If you are talking about Madison city (as in Madison City Schools), the only zipcode is 35758 and it is pretty much all good.
