I've come to realize that Huntsville growth is very noticeable for a city its size. I'm just amazed at how much the city is growing daily. The Toney/Harvest area is growing like widlfires. I hope Huntsville can do something to bring diversity to the economy to help keep up this growth. It will be so devastating if the military and similar sectors flip upside down.

Looks can be deceiving... Huntsville is growing AKA sprawling a lot for its size, mainly due to low-density developments in the middle of nowhere going up all over the place. OTOH... it IS genuinely growing. HSV was just ranked the #4 market in the USA for home builders. Considering how much things slowed down here, it must be horrifically awful everywhere else. Which is not a bad thing since almost everything in this country built post-1980 is car-dependent and unsustainable.

Indeed. I just moved out to KE's beloved Toney last month. I now own a home on 5 acres and love the peace and quiet. I am no longer the defender of SW Huntsville, although I still argue it's not so bad. I grew up in Huntsville and there is still plenty of space in town for development. The City of Huntsville has one of the lowest population densities of any mid-sized or larger city in the country. So there is no need for everyone to come pile on top of me out here. Stay away!!!

West Huntsville is booming its butt off! I can see continuous development from Huntsville to Athens in no time.

I thought 'West Huntsville' was the area around Triana Blvd and 9th Ave. At least that's what it was called when I was a kid. That's no joke either.
