Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I discovered a good burger place to add to the list. Many think 5 Guys is good, but since it's a chain it doesn't really count as a local place.

Well in Meridianville, just off 231 by Jacob's Landing is a little place called Taters and Dawgs. They are a 5 Guys knock off. Same menu, same decor, same layout, same overstuffed bag of fries, same flavor. Even have a stack of potatoes in view.

The difference is, at 5 Guys, very few to none of the employees speak American. For sure it's not their first language.

At Taters and Dawgs that is all changed. A local place, owned and operated by locals. It's my new favorite burger.

Old Thread, but here is my take.
I love Five Guys, but I would rather have a bigger burger and way less fries. I also really don't care for their soggy fries anyway. Even the 2 patty burger is about the size of my closed fist.
Fuddruckers is great also, I like the fixin's bar to build it my way.
* Do you guys recall that Burger Chief had this fixins bar 1st? Also I think B.C. had the 1st kids meal.

For me (listed best to worst):

- Crickets in Madison. Hole-in-the-wall place with very good food.
- Cheeburger Cheeburger
- Fuddruckers, but there aren't any around here.
- 5 Guys
- Fast food places

I've been to Red Robin once, and as I recall, it was about the same as 5 Guys, but more expensive. I haven't been to Little Diner. I'm going to have to change that.

That place is great. It should do very well here.

Went to the Dub's in Athens today.

Well I don't have much good to say, but I liked my Pepsi and my onion rings were pretty good.

The service was quick.

Dub's is an old staple.

Been twice in the last 20yrs, decent, I like the vibe, but the burgers are just too greasy for me. I like knowing places like that are still open, but not really into them. If it was located in the old strip mall in downtown Madison, I'd go more often, but not worth supporting an OK place in another town.

Old is a good word to describe them.

I've been to old, classic burger places before - but this was not one I would ever, ever go again.

I would rather eat the hamburgers at an East Limestone sports event then go back.

By the way, the burgers at an East Limestone soccer game are really, really good.
