If Huntsville has some good ones, I'm thinking about running some stairs. The problem is, I can't think of any that are convenient and not inside a building or stadium. I'd also prefer them not to be in an area where I'd be irritating to normal pedestrians (and them not be obstacles for me.)

Anyone know a place?

Big Spring Park downtown has some steps - go when there's not an event and there's usually plenty of room. Else, run some hills.

Second Big Spring, there is a long, steep flight next to the spring and a short, shallow flight across from Huntsville Utilities. I have run them many times. I have run steps at Athens High School football stadium as well.

Aren't school grounds considered off limits these days? I don't want to be considered a tresspasser or anything.

I'll check out the Big Springs steps. I'm guessing parking for there is meters at the top of the stairs?

Thanks.

I don't know. I was training some high school kids there and the gates were wide open during the day on Saturday. We ran stairs and used the track. There were signs asking you to stay off the field. There was a maintenance guy there doing some work and he didn't say anything to us. Our taxes paid for it. If it is the gate is open and school isn't in session, IMO you have every right to use the facility.

The square isn't great for parking - suggest Fountain Row (metered during the day).

Any in Madison? Or maybe some good hills for sprints?

The Madison city stadium but have no clue if you can drive up and start running.

Eastview has some good hills, but I wouldn't want to run on that road; there are some nice hills on some of the side streets.
