Let your Bro know that we have a pizza place from Chicopee, Venice Pizza near Bridge Street Mall. He'll thinks he's still in Boston.

He was overall impressed with the work/life mix there in Huntsville. COL was cheap, great career opportunity, and it sounded like there was plenty of stuff for him to do. He is a single guy, so is often going out on the weekends and was impressed by how friendly everyone was. Even the bartender invited him to a STEP competition the next day since he has only seen it in movies!

I am also glad my brother has first hand experience of your city. I am a contractor and Huntsville comes up a lot in conversations about job opportunities. At least now, when people talk about how they would never move to Huntsville, I can at least refer them to my brothers experience!

Thumbs up for Huntsville!

We regularly send guys up there for training (Law Enforcement) and are alway amused at how their impression of Alabama changes by the time they get back.

I deal with the retirees and I believe we have 20 within a 30 mile radius at this point. Most are the ones we sent up there.

I was born and raised in New England. (Mass, and CT) I never thought I would imagine even being in the south but I have lived in Huntsville for six years and I love it! I love the people, shops, our church....the weather could still use some getting used to but otherwise I don't see my family moving anytime soon!

I moved up here from Tampa and I love it. I love the people up here. Everyone is so nice and polite. Folks stop for funerals processions, men tip their hats and kid say 'yes sir/mam'

The summers are hot but I love the spring and fall. we get just enough winter to make you look forward to spring. We have snow almost every year since I moved up here but it doesn't last long.

BTW.. they have the best BBQ up here too. I do miss the grouper and cuban food but I can make the cuban food as long as Publix is up here.

I've actually never even been to Huntsville, but I still want to move there!
I have done lots of research though, and so far everything looks promising.
We lived in FL (Tallahassee) for several years and I loved it there. We've been in central IL for 6 years now and I absolutely hate it, even though I grew up here.
Huntsville is 7 hours south of where we are now, so I figured it would be an easy move and I could get out of the brutal winters and enjoy the southern hospitality and charm that I desperately miss (and is sorely lacking in the midwest, IMHO)
We'll be visiting for a week in October and I can't wait!

The midwest folk are usually nice. I have family in Illinois, Missouri and Kansas. I have never had a problem with them. Usually it is east coast people that can be rude.

That being said, most people are nice here. But remember there are transplants, so if someone is rude before they moved here crossing the state line won't make them nice.
