Since AL football won't be over for another month or so for a bigger get together on a Saturday. I noticed in the CT forum they have get togethers lunches and wondered if anyone would be interested in doing something similiar in Huntsville?

I know there are several people from MI and of course Zennjenn has just moved here. I thought it might be nice to be able to go out to lunch as a group.

Your thoughts

I think it would be a nice way to meet some new faces, but we might all be too scattered for a weekday lunch.

Sure, that'd be fun, though still a weekend might be better, or a coffee break type of thing, as I have a child in preschool who needs to be picked up around lunch time.

Well if there is enough interest we can make it a weekend thing or even a morning coffee kaltch (sp) thing.
Figured it would be a way to get out of house and meet some new people.

We will be in Huntsville 11/4 to 11/16 to buy a house and would love to meet everyone and thank them for all of the helpful tips offered. Coffee, lunch, or whatever. Hope to finish house hunting by Tuesday 11/6 and actually have some free moments unlike our previous trips!

Hi All....I'd love it! Don't really know anyone here yet and would love to meet all you people that have helped out so much by the way of info!

We've rented an Apt in Decatur, (near hubby's work), until our house in FL sells...please keep your finges crossed for us! Apt living is not our style! LOL!

Weekends would be great for us...maybe a launch somewhere?

Sure look forward to putting a face on the really great people I've met here on
the fourm.

Sounds like a great idea. I could bring my Aunt as she is very interested in meeting people new to the area. (She buys, fixes, and resells houses as a hobby in older/Blossomwood areas) I live in Birmingham currently, but would make it most any weekend, especially with a couple weeks warning. Hope to see some new faces there!

Why not do an outside picnic at Big Spring Park? When I was the marketing guru at Comcast a few years ago I worked with the Museum's Art Krewe (their volunteers) to put on Movies in the Park each summer. There's plenty of room outside for as many as 250 people, Cafe Baba's right there or people can bring their own picnic. I could check with Clayton Bass or his staff about it. The trick this time of year might be the weather.

Just wondering where we are on this idea of a luncheon get-together? Sounds great to me.

Did this ever happen? We're in HSV 5/18-22, flying on 5/18 and 5/22.

We tried to do this on the Colorado Springs forum (which seems a little more active than the HSV forum). It failed like a lead zeppelin. My guess is that, for a lot of people, CD forums are an outlet for people who might otherwise be shy, non-social, introverted? Forums are anonymous; there is protection.

The COS mod wanted it at a restaurant. I would prefer an outside place where people can mingle, maybe even wear the dorky "Hello, My Name is..." tags. Also, we have four kids under nine; they will ruin any sit down thing for us.

We'd be up for it.
