I'm not using this as a pro/con for gas or electric heat pump....just pointing out that some people cannot tolerate gas in the home. I really don't have a preference between the two and if I had my choice, I would have a hybrid unit that utilized both.
Dry air can inflame your respiratory linings and cause severe dry skin issues ---- a real problem for highly allergic people. This is the downside to NG.

We use a humidifier during winter for this.

Thanks for all the replies. Looks like it's not really a slam dunk with either option, which is good, b/c I'm seeing a roughly 50/50 split (gas/electric) in the houses we're looking at.
