If you move here, avoid Madison. It's just a huge strip mall and people try to kill you in traffic. Move to 35801 zip code. Beautiful old houses, close to downtown and plenty of outdoors. For allergies, buy local honey and put it in hot tea every day. You will get over allergies quickly. Large tree canopy downtown and on Monte Sano which keeps temps down.

If and when you move here, don't buy immediately. Rent and get a feel of the traffic flows and school zones, your own family routine etc.

If you work in Dynetics, the location is quite central to various good neighborhoods.

Rent first.

Don't take advice from people with less than 50 posts since they're probably the same guy.

I agree. South Huntsville has beautiful homes and some are less than 150K. Grissom is a great school. Traffic is a breeze. It is certainly worth investigating.

Some love Madison and Hampton but you will pay for those areas and gain nothing except a longer commute.

I don't have a beef here in this mindless Madison vs. HC vs HSV.

But the commute is ALL RELATIVE - to where you work, where you are assigned (as a contractor) and your own family / friends routine.

I'm not the same guy and regardless of your post, local honey has helped me. I have lived here for 50 years and even though I don't post much, I know what I'm talking about regarding areas of Madison County. Madison=Misery.

Is he flying in town for the interview? If so, usually a company will have a local Realtor show him around different neighborhoods and look at houses.

Good luck on the interview!

Sorry, Carol. Huff makes accounts pretending to be different people with different views. The anti-Madison view and the honey made you seem like just another Huff character.

The thing with honey is yes, it does work. But it only works if the bees are collecting honey from it. If you're allergic to, say, some conifer that's throwing pollen everywhere, it's not going to help with that. Flowering weeds? Yes.

And it is not just the health benifits of local honey that I like. Find a local bee keeper and you can buy honey at a very low cost, that tastes so much better than the grocery store plastic bear honey. I buy from a guy in Hazel Green, and pay $10 per quart. I can tell him dark or light color and he has it. Look for a Mullins in the area. They are all related and know him.
