Everyone I meet says it will pass that most of the people in Athens KNOW they need the new high school. The proposed school is absolutely beautiful. The old high school will become the middle school. Right now the middle school is in a VERY OLD, scary, dreary looking school. It seems like a no brainer, but you know sometimes people don't see the obvious.

Thanks!

I work in both the middle school and the high school each day. Because of this, I feel like I can honestly say that a move out of the current middle school is an absolute MUST for our students, teachers and staff. Simple tasks like sharpening pencils are a challenge, because of plugs. You need to unplug something to plug in something else. Likewise, at the high school, almost every room lacks minimum outlets. The staff works very hard to maintain a clean environment, to help the students be productive and proud of the building. However, I believe our community deserves so much more.

As a homeowner, I am very willing to pay extra to maintain the top facilities for a school system that is exceptionally solid in every way and works very hard to improve everyday.

Please vote YES for our schools so that we can make the capital plan a reality.

I am also hoping that others vote yes. I drove by the middle school and have seen other old schools around the country. I cannot imagine the kids being excited to walk into that school.

The home values will go up if the school is approved. Do not stay home for this vote and take a friend with you to vote for the schools. Make sure all the parents and grandparents of the students vote.

Dave, Thank you for your reply. Quick question, you can't vote yes because you are able to vote in Athens or you won't vote YES?

Everyone seems to say it will be approved, but after seeing the school (we were on a house hunting trip). It is absolutely a deterrent to any new home buyers who are used to great schools.

Decatur is getting new high schools.
Hartselle has a new high school.
Of course, Athens needs a new high school. The city has grown a LOT!
