Do you have a car? Commuting from Madison to Huntsville is about 20 minuets on 565. You get a lot more choices in Madison and safer.

Not at this moment. I will likely have to save for a car.

These are almost new and close to Bridge Street. One bedrooms listed as $850-$925.

The Bridges in Research Park

And they are north of 565 (barely) and west of the parkway so there you go.

In that area is where I would be looking on the east side of the parkway.
I lived in that area about 35-40 yrs ago and it was deteriorating then. Dunno what it's like now.

Valley Garden is Section 8. BTW, that's why you see so many apartments along the Parkway, many of them are HUD.

writerwife - I think people have Hunter's Ridge apts in mind, not English Village.

Also, you will need a car. The public transit is very limited.

I should have clarified.. Obviously Huntsville goes into Limestone and now Morgan counties but when people think of Huntsville they generally think of north of and east of the Arsenal. My comments before were talking about the areas south of 565, west of the parkway down to Golf Rd and east of the Arsenal. I can’t speak for everyone but I would prefer to stay out of that particular area.

Sure there are safe areas near Providence, Bridgestreet, Madison but the original poster doesn’t have a car and works in Huntsville. I assume that means he needs to be close-ish to the center of town.

Downtown is really safe, especially compared to comparable sized cities. There several new apartment/condo places, and they appear to be quite exclusive (and expensive). I wouldn't mind living there at all, if I liked urban living. I just prefer the suburbs.

I do tend to think of anything east of the Arsenal when I think of Huntsvile.

I have never been IN Huntsville. I've gone through and past it but I've never gotten to know Huntsville.

I am looking for something in Huntsville. I don't like to be too far from my job. Easy access. For now no car. Being close to the center of town helps. I don't have to be IN the center of Huntsville.

I haven't taken the job yet. I am willing to pay up to 1000 per month.

You’ll need a car in Huntsville, there’s no mass transits to speak off practically speaking. Get a basic commuting beater at least.
