I came across the Green Team-City of Huntsville which seems to rely on volunteers- good program but they are unable to handle it all.

If I started a highway litter removal company and started picking up trash around Huntsville without expecting any compensation- would it be a good way to convince the city to contract out my services?

I am not looking to do anything illegal or unethical but in NYC, the Mafia ran trash collection up until the mid 90's- In NJ and PA they still control it-if the city does them wrong in any way, they would just stop trash collection-so they had/have a lot of leverage.

Instructions unclear. You want to start the Huntsville Mafia?

So you want to start a company to perform services without expecting to be compensated for said services in order to convince the city to pay you for the sevices they are getting for free?

Yeah, I don't get it. Pretending to be an engineer, a real estate investor, garbage man, and now a godfather. Interesting hobbies anyway.

Yes, they have volunteers.

Everyone that sees litter in Huntsville city limits can report it on Huntsville Connect whether it is city property or private property.

I posted the link before: https://www.huntsvilleal.gov/residen...ervice-request

If it's private property the city will ask the owner to clean it up if it is in violation.

Thanks! I did some research and there is a private company in CA that specializes in highway litter removal but also they work with the Adopt a Mile sponsors to do the clean up of their designated miles.

I am not willing to quit my job to pursue an additional business venture at this point but if anybody here is interested- I would be willing to mentor that person or discuss partnership ideas.

Our company would step in to fill the gap where the city program falls short and also, we would perform maintenance of already designated Adopt-A-Mile areas for those sponsoring companies or organizations since they are not able to do it everyday.

I drove on 565 this morning after the gym between Jordan Ln and Madison- the amount of litter along that segment is mind blowing- I cannot understand the mindset of people who do that but I will have to do something about it.

Not only it is horrendous from a purely aesthetic perspective- it makes our city look like a dumpster but also, all this non-biodegradable material eventually finds it way to our watersheds.

I just stopped by the Walmart on Madison Blvd and that parking lot is absolutely disgusting- there is litter all over it.

Why would someone need you as a mentor?

So, how much of it did you pick up?
