I drove by these today- they look like something from 1975- It looks like they belong to Oakwood University.

What can I do to convince someone that these need to upgraded? It is so obvious, but maybe not so obvious to some people.

They very well could have been built in 1975. I've never heard of those apartments, but if the owners spent a good deal to renovate and upgrade, they'd have to charge rents accordingly. I suppose they must have a market for what they offer or they'd do something, or cease to exist. There are a few really sleazy looking apartment complexes on Wall Triana/Sullivan street north of "downtown" Madison. But they stay full it seems.

Apartment landlords don't have the best reputation in the world for addressing tenants' needs, and they do only what they absolutely have to.

It helps the thread count - as in bed sheets - better is more, right?

I don't really mind his posts. Everybody has a right to their own opinions and observations.

Besides he has livened up our relatively boring Alabama CD Forum!

Like RocketDawg pointed out, if they renovated them, the cost of the renovation would be rolled into a rent increase. Most likely at least a 30% increase. Many of the people that live there probably could not afford a 30+% increase in their rent. Where would they go? If they could afford a nicer place or even better yet buy their own home, they would most likely do so. Lower rent, older apartment complexes serve a purpose. That is just simple economics that most anyone should be able to understand.

1975! The Horror! Ancient!

What about the claptrap row houses being built in many cities during the past 20 years?

The only apartments I used to wish had been upgraded were Monte Sano Terrace.

They were luxury apartments built in the late 80's in a great location.

I would have rented there at the time if they had been better maintained.

Plenty of other people had no problem renting there.

I'm sure the same goes with these Wright Apartments.
