Do check out our public schools. They are very good. I know many people who come from areas where most children are schooled privately are surprised at the quality of public schools here. Couple that with vigorous church attendance and a home religious life for a well-rounded child.

Yes, I'd like to shelter my child from the real world for as long as possible too. Are there any small christian schools in NE Huntsville? Thanks.

^^^This was not a constructive comment. ^^^

Just as people feel that it is the responsibility of the parent to guide their child's moral compass and not the state of school (where I assume you are coming from); it is just as reasonable for parents to assume the responsibility of preparing their kids for the "real world" if they so choose to send their children from the "sheltered" private christian schools.

I personally attended private schools in Huntsville and when my public school friends and I got together and talked about school, you'd be surprised which side had more edgy stories. Now I'm not saying that Catholic High has nearly the "real world" issues such as drug dealing and pregnancy that Grissom might (at least not over the table), but I doubt any parent would want their kids around the people that perpetuate those action regardless.

The advantages in teacher-student ratio as well as the closer controlled, and sometimes accelerated learning approach can be very beneficial to a student regardless of religious affiliation.

Whether it be morals from a public school or "realism" from a private one, the responsibility of what the child takes to heart lies with the parents. And the real goal of this forum is to provide helpful information if possible and encourage if appropriate, not to judge or diminish.

...So to answer your question... Yes, there is a Holy Family Catholic grade school off of Pulaski Pike heading south right past university. I believe there is also a Heritage Christian around the Meridianville area at the intersection of Pulaski Pike and Stringfield Road.

Not super constructive, but it is very much true . . .

But the ails of society also impact private schools Christian or otherwise. So, in the end, it's not so much where kids go to school, but what happens at home.

Default Very helpful comments here....

It's true that unless you have a home that is centered around good moral living, then private christian education is not as effective. It does start at home 1st. We're not trying to shelter our children from the "outside" world. We want to give them a faith based foundation to form their young lives with and the security that comes from having that faith.

If Chiristian groups really want to stop abortion and the moral decline among the youth, they should work to make Christian schools more affordable.

This is kind of dissapointing to me as a Christian, Christians and Christian groups always point out the secularism and the low standard of public schools.
Christian groups advices mothers to stay at home and be more involved in raising their children, fathers are made to feel guilty for working too much, but in order to afford a Christian school, the father has to work harder and with long hours, and mothers need to bring a second income.
There is something wrong with this picture, why isn't there any Christian advocacy group that promotes affordable Christian education?

Not to get all political, but what sounds like the solution would be the voucher system. The state is spending your tax dollars on their schools, but you want better.

You can't ask the teachers and staff that work in the private schools to work for free can you?

I'm definitely going to look into this as the answer to my search for a private Christian school and kindergarten in the Huntsville, AL and Madison, AL area.

I have a client who has researched Faith extensively and has said very positive things. She has toured the current campus and is anxious about the new campus opening. She has decided when they move here that is where her daughter will attend.
