Stress level is down now. We have two more weeks to look for something that will work for us. Now I don't care what school district we're in since I've found out we can't afford to be that picky. I thought since so many people were moving into the area, there would be more choices for short term living and people with pets. Now that we have more time, hopefully we can scout around some more and find what meets our needs. Thank goodness!

So, now what? What can the forum do for you?
Are you considering other school districts?
Are you considering different neighborhoods?
Are you still looking for large lots?
What is your housing budget?

Drive out Winchester to New Market, buy a new house for 150K-200K in one of the subdivisions.
Or, drive out any other main road to a suburb buy a new house for 150K-200K in one of the subdivisions. It'll work out.

Sometimes you have to just throw it all down on the table and go. It's like jumping out of a perfectly good aircraft. If you think about it too much, you won't do it. :-)

I would think that she should have more caution.

In general yes, but when we move for work, we may have to throw caution to the wind.

What is your housing budget? Right now, pretty low until we sell our house. I'm hoping the extra two weeks will also help with an offer. Two weeks will give us more time to find something by checking other options we haven't yet considered.
Thanks for everyone's help! We are learning more and more each day.

Why not just rent in a district you want to live in? Is it possible to rent your home and keep it for sale? Just rent now in Huntsville and rent out your home in your origin and when your home sells there, buy here? I know this sounds simple but is it a possibility? At least you could rent here in the school district of your choice and you could buy time to really scope things out and avoid making a rushed decision.

If you have equity in your current house, take out a bridge loan to finance your new home while your current home is on the market.
