I've seen them build entire restaurants faster than this remodel, must have been pretty extensive.

FCEddie -- Wendy's had a fire in the vents. The firefighters went in from the roof.

A retired firefighter told me that they could have just put a fire extinguisher blast up the vent and it would have fixed things, but they went for effect.

To the OP, I noticed the same thing.

Stuff here is slow-- except driving. A "first job" or "basic minimum wage service job" is a person's first chance to do well -- not some cop out becuase the pay is low. I just don't get it.

The only fast food place's that I have noticed being slow down here in my area is Hardee's and KFC, the rest are okay. Not sure how these two even stay in business.

I wonder how "controlled" or scientific the comparisons between the AL fast food places and other fast food places were.

There may be other reasons:

The economy. People are eating more fast food because it is cheap.
New gadgets. Lots of new machines to supposedly make the process more efficient. Probably also there for the corporate bean counters to take data, inventory, market research, etc.
New food items: Fast food is low margin, very competitive. Each joint is trying to position itself with the latest bacon-wrap-chipotle-fish-taco-mcrib-secret-sauce-two-all-beef-patties-special-sauce-lettuce-cheese-pickles-onions-a-a-sesame-seed-bun items.

I have worked at McDonald's and Wendy's, and Charles is absolutely correct here.

If you wanna know the answer, just read this post 10 times because it's all there. In other words, it doesn't have much to do with Alabama.

The only thing Charles failed to mention is the very poor management in fast food restaurants, that is a big, big factor. They don't know how to keep the morale up amongst employees and get everybody to work as a smooth functioning team.

I actually have great respect for the whole fast food concept. It's one of the greatest examples of the dynamism of American capitalism. Great marketing. A decent product for cheap. Convenient and fast for customers. Fun and exciting for kids (and for also for dumb adults like myself who will endlessly salivate over the prospect of hot cooked meat between sh*tty white bread with a dollop of ketchup)!

Imagine my horror when I actually worked at McDonald's and Wendy's and saw how terribly poorly these places are managed and run. The biggest failing is the franchisees'/owners' and corporate higher-ups' lamentable and shoddy oversight of their restaurants. They are not "hands on" enough in the restaurants and/or are just plain stupid.

Thanks Milledj.

Now Wendy's is shut down for a month and kids are out of work.

=

As for slow: KFC in Athens and most Hardees are indeed very slow.

Management: I worked for Wendy's about a lifetime ago, and we had great managers and it showed in our work. We would get an order out in 30 seconds (they timed us) as a matter of pride to be the best.

Now 30 seconds and you are still waiting for your change.

Yeah, no kidding! What the hell has happened to us?
