I have a friend who is interested in Bishop Farms because it has lovely homes and the HOA is free of the developer's grip. If anyone on this forum can share info, via DM regarding the overall quality of life/pros and cons/ about the neighborhood, please do so.

Or, if you have info the rest of the forum can find beneficial, please post on the forum.

Default pleased with Bishop Farms

I've been a resident of Bishop Farms for over 3 years.

Pleased with Woodland Homes and the home they built. Only the usual new home items to finish during the first few months after moving in and Woodland took care of all.

Pleased with the neighborhood and definitely, the location. Neighbors are a mix of families with children from preschool up to high school, couples with children grown and out of the home, and retired couples. Yards and homes are well maintained.

Monrovia Elementary, Monrovia Middle, Sparkman 9th Grade Acad, and Sparkman High are the schools.

Thanks Southeastern--I will forward this information to her. I had heard it was lovely--much like WP but without the HOA transferral issues hanging over them any longer. That's good to know. It's a great area--Nice to know there are retired couples there and couples with older kids grown and gone. That's where they are at in their stage of life.

Of course, I'm hoping they might come to WP once we gain control of the HOA C&R. That's the main thing holding them back. I think it might get resolved soon and then they'll have a difficult choice to make.

We love our WH--only a few first year creaks and cracks--once we get past the HOA issue, I hope our neighborhood will relax a bit and enjoy living in WP.

If they are interested in Woodland resales, they can also check Walden off of Browns Ferry around the corner from Walden Preserve. 2/3 of the subdivision was built by Woodland. (The initial phase and infrastructure was built by Joe Murphy.) There are 165 houses (with a few for sale between $289K and $499K) and a great HOA that is free and clear from the Declarant. Schools are Mill Creek/Liberty/Bob Jones. Website is Walden Homeowners Association

Yeah Walden We live there and love it. Our HOA is the BEST!!! Really! Community lake, club house, jr. olympic sized pool. There are a couple of decent deals just waiting to be purchased right now as well!

Our builder was not Woodland, but there are several Woodland resales available.

WH was not the original builder for Walden, but then came in and finished out the subdivision. There are several WH homes there right now. I notes several up for sale. But, quite frankly, the price points on a few of them were a bit too high. IMHO.

KNA-We are considering purchasing a home in a Bishop Farms and although we appreciate HOA's and how they protect Home Owners just wanting to clarify from experience on how they are to deal with.. We have read the covenants and see nothing out of the normal.
