I just cleared some of my land and have a large pile of brush and tree limbs in my from yard (covers 20ft by 10ft area). I heard that the city has a large trash pickup like once a month, but didn't know if that was true. And if it is true, what lengths do I need to cut the branches/brush into for them to pick them up.

If the city doesn't pick them up, does anyone now a good company to have come and haul them off.

Thanks!

If you live in the City of Huntsville they usually pick up brush and limbs once a week (for me trash pick up is on Mondays - great timing for weekend yard work). Madison County and other municipalities have their own guidelines and schedules.

The 'Guidelines' PDF file says tree limbs no more than 5' length, total pile not to exceed 10 cubic yards - additional waste collected at a rate of $45 per 5 cubic yards. The City seems to ignore this, especially after severe weather, as long as you don't take advantage of them. However, if you hire contractors, the contractor is responsible for removing the waste.
