I really need some good Greek food! Anywhere in town is fine - Huntsville, Madison, etc. Just need a good gyro and souflaki! Suggestions, reviews? Urbanspoon has Papa Gyro's, but many said it's not authentic. Comments?

Not sure if there is any "really good" Greek food.

Papa Gyro's on University

There's a place downtown Huntsville but for some reason I can't find it on google

You mean that place on the court house ?
Calling their food "Greek" would be the biggest insult to real Greek food.

Haven't tried it myself.

Not good. I've been there twice and I have a high tolerance for bad food. I didn't like it, so that's saying something.

There's a great Greek place in Tuscaloosa called Hooligans. Not fancy, closer to a hole in the wall, but awesome greek food. It's too bad that I can't think of a single place similar to Hooligans here and I've lived here all my life.

You can always check Taziki's out. The reviews on yelp are mixed.

Taziki's on Yelp

Well, there ya go.

I guess there's an opportunity for a really good Greek place here then.

Why don't the Greek places here now simply prepare good tasting food?

Depends on what you are looking for and how far you want to drive to find Greek food. There is a Italian and Greek restaurant in Arab. The owner is from Greece and he makes gyros and other Greek dishes. Some are specials that he doesn't serve everyday. He makes Baklava too.

It is The Sicilian Restaurant in Arab. They are on Facebook.
