No you're not the only one...I LOVE hurricanes...as long as they are under Cat.3. They bring a different twist to your daily life without going through the same boring routine day after day...and as a weather nerd, I love wild weather.

Even the CAT 5's are OK as long as going in the right direction well off shore. The satellite images are neat that show us the big merry go round in action.

Unfortunately, we don't get hurricanes, but we'd probably be screwed if we did. I live in the NYC, CT area. So I'm unsure if I like them or not.

I lived a couple of hours in the eye wall of Charley - lost my house.
Now my house is built like a BSH. I got Lexan shutters so I can watch the wind and rain. I live in the tropics and I don't want to live anywhere else.

Me too!!! My husband at the time worked in construction and went to Homestead to rebuild. I went down one weekend shortly after and couldn't believe the devastation still!! All we lost was a back door. Never liked that door anyway!!

We lived far enough in land by the time Charley made a visit that we lost a couple screens from the patio and a small portion of fence in the back yard thanks to a pine tree. We were lucky. 10 days without power was the worst part of that for us.

Same here with the exception of I love them regardless of size. The bigger the better for me. The damage they cause is another story but in terms of the storm itself, sign me up. Of course I grew up on the coast of NC; to me they are commonplace.

My husband just loves storms. Any kind of storm. He should have been a meteorologist! Right now he is wishing he could be down in Texas babysitting the kids' house! Of course he has never been where it is so prone to flooding like down there. We've gone through many a hurricane/Nor'easter but our houses have never flooded. I wonder if that would change hubby's mind?? NAH. He's a little off kilter!!!!
