Wow I forgot about bonnie 98! It was a hurricane in a very infamous time period in the late 90s where every year a devastating hurricane hit nc. Talk about devestating. Every year from 1980 to 1999 had seem impact from a tropical cyclone with 1985 having 8 affecting NC in one season. Crazy, 68 total cyclones affected us in a 29 year period.not all landfalled but came close enough to impact us.
Bonnie stalled yesterday evening and then decided to change corse and is now heading North at about 8mph. Pressure 1009mb, winds 40mph (somewhere). Bonnie is currently poorly organized no further strengthening is expected. Wind shear has kept the rains associated with Bonnie and actual center of the storm separated, along with dry air making its way into the system preventing more showers from forming, which is a death sentence for Tropical systems.
Bonnie, or what is left of Bonnie, is expected to approach the SC coastline N of Charleston, SC and continue to bring scattered showers to portions of the SC and NC coast with 1-3+inches of additional rainfall as well as some areas well inland. Several inches have already fallen in portions of SC and GA.
Tides will still be 1-2 feet above normal along portions of the SC coast as breezy conditions and swells will continue to push water higher.
Rip currents will continue to be the main threat along the southeast US coast the next several days.

Downgraded to Tropical Depression. What remained of the center has come ashore in Isle of Palms SC, just north-east of Charleston, SC.
Scattered showers continue in the southeast US.
Areas just northwest of Charleston, SC are experiencing flash flooding from heavy rains near the center.
Areas near Ridgeland, SC (between Savannah, GA and Charleston, SC) are under flash flood warnings after several inches of rain fell towards sunrise this morning. Part of i95 south is closed and being detoured around a flooded portion in Ridgeland, SC.
Has been upgraded back to a Tropical Depression this morning (Thursday June 2, 2016). Effects still the same: scattered heavy rain for portions of eastern NC as Bonnie slowly heads out to sea.
Bonnie once again upgraded to a Tropical Storm as of 5pm Friday June 3, 2016. Well east of US coast now.
