My husband and I are looking into relocating to the CDA area in a few years, from Wyoming. He is an avid ice fisherman(no we're not moving to Minnesota) and pheasant hunter, he's also been getting into duck and goose hunting more lately. Anyway, I'm wanting to know if there's much ice fishing that goes on in this area, any derbies or anything. And also about the bird hunting, I know there are bird farms around Spokane but I'm wanting to know if there are any release area's near CDA. Thanks in advance for any info. Any Elk/Deer hunting perspectives would be helpful also.
Kristi

There's been someone ice fishing on Hayden Lake every time we've been there during this cold spell. Whether or not they're catching anything (bass/pike/perch/trout?) I have no idea. :^ ) I don't know of any ice fishing derbies, either, but then, I prefer fishing when it's not 15 degrees...

There are wild turkey, quail, and pheasant in this area.

Deer hunting--whitetail, taste a heck of a lot better than the sage-eating mules in SE Idaho. Lots of elk hunters, too.

I hope you can get more specifics...I haven't hunted up here but I've got a couple friends who live along Hayden who got their animals practically in their backyards. Deer, moose, and bear. Well, okay, the bear really WAS in Alan's back yard.

Wow I'm not that fond of bear, especially in my back yard. Are they common in this area??
