And she thinks because she is a Mexican citizen that she has a right to break any law of the USA she pleases.
And this very wealthy woman has the big money to help her own country instead of trying to encourage her fellow citizens to break the laws of the USA. She is one of the filthy rich Mexican elites who have zero respect for laws. Anything for money.
I read this earlier today and laughed my butt off.
It's her attempt at trying to garner some kind of solidarity with the "illegals". Meanwhile this woman was never what we consider a border jumping, take advantage of the system illegal. She wasn't even an IMMIGRANT because she had no desire to become an American.
No, what she did was leave when her visa expired (which is what she was legally required to do) and re enter. Big difference
Selma Hayek is one of the richest women in Hollywood after marrying her multi billionaire tycoon - the hubris of these people never ceases to amaze me.
Takes hellova lot of nerve. Seriously it does.
But she is typical of those who believe laws shouldn't apply to them because of their nation of origin. And she was never poor, breaking USA laws wasn't about lack of opportunities in her own country, it was just about the general lack of respect for laws, or believing our laws shouldn't apply to them. Even those with the big money don't respect our laws.
She's only trying to use her elite status and wealth to justify everyone who doesn't choose to abide by the laws of this country.
It doesn't matter if it was briefly or not. After all, illegal is illegal right?
Yes there is a difference between a person who comes here legitimately, supports themselves, and then briefly overstays a visa but self deports and a person who jumps the border (with no intent on ever doing it the right way) and demands all sorts of welfare benefits all while not contributing a dime in taxes. If you can't see the difference then that's your problem.
It doesn't matter if it was briefly or not. After all, illegal is illegal right?
yup, you're right! Illegal IS illegal. Did you actually catch the part where she went BACK to Mexico and came back to the US legally? IF every illegal did this, I and millions of others would have no problem. Come (and stay) legally, that's all we ask.
Now if she had been caught, I'd say she deserved the same treatment as any other illegal.
All this shows is that there IS a way to do it legally....you go back and start the process legally.
But really it's too bad that Hayek is all only about her own self-interests and greed. Imagine if she didn't abandon her own country for the big money of the USA and stayed and tried to help make it better?
She's a fraud. She uses her "Mexican" background when and as it is convenient, but in reality she only cares about USA money.
