According to Sperling, the father then was given a choice: Emily could be left in a children's detention facility or sent back to Guatemala with her grandfather. The father said he would prefer that Emily stay with her grandfather, and so Emily was deported from the country -- her country.
The pro-illegal activists are going so far as to deny a child's parent's the option to have their own child stay with relatives.
They're playing a tug-of-war using this little girl. Shameful.
The parents should be returned home, where the grandfather and their girl now are. Whatever happened to family reunification?
The exploitation of these innocent children is absolutely appalling.
It's not far fetched to believe the pro-illegal side will confiscate these little and force the families to leave them behind when deported just to make a point.
Now they plan to go retrieve her - how frightening for a tiny child. It's as if they're afraid her parents might actually return home to reunite with their child who could be raised in their country - and we can't have that. The pro-illegals don't care about anything but their agenda.
Post some comments from "pro-illegals" to see what their thinking...Cuz I dont get this thread. US kids are returned to their parents' native homes everyday. US Kids are sent to live with relatives in other countries [for varying reasons] everyday.

Actually she wasn't deported per se. The parents are here illegally and they chose not to pick the girl up at the airport because of fear of deportation.
They were given the different options and the option that THEY chose was to have the girl return with her grandfather to Guatamala. The choice was entirely on the parents to decide but of course the pro-illegals spun it to make it a deportation order on the part of the officials at the airport. Honesty isn't something that they are known for when they want to feed their agendas.

Here ya go. Plenty of comments from both sides about this topic.
The NY Times covered this story the other day. As I pointed out, the father has been here FIFTEEN years in violation of our immigration laws. Said father does NOT speak English despite living here that long. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/23/nyregion/23citizen.html?_r=1&adxnnl=1&ref=nyregion&adxnnlx= 1300975986-eYrkiD/ut0MlDGHJBxguJQ I have no idea why he and his family believe themselves sympathetic figures. ALL family members can go back to Guatemala if that is their home country. If the little girl wants to come to American she can come back here when is of legal age. But she should not be used an excuse to grant citizenship to her lazy, arrogant criminal parents. In the meantime the law should be changed so that you must be a legal American citizen to claim citizenship for your offspring. That's the real frustration here.

It's interesting how greed and money trumps all. They would rather live apart from their own child than give up a single USA dollar.
