Aaah, now there's a great question alluded to here. It really is the important one.

You can pretty much assume that due to the wealth gradient and just sheer inertia, the mass movement of people from Latin America to the US will continue. The more people move here, the more attractive it becomes.

For some odd reason, it's an area where the ruling elite ignores the wishes of the majority. You know darned well what a national referendum on anything involving illegal aliens would say. I accept that the votes of ConAgra + political leadership + existing Hispanics + a subset of the Democratic party is able to overrule the rest of the nation. Economic considerations aside, it's probably not dissimilar to public unions in that a small but energized group is able to defeat a larger yet amorphous one.

But the end game is the interesting thing. It's a unique situation in that a non-English speaking and quite foreign culture is setting up shop in such numbers that they are beginning to re-create their homeland within this country. Let's say that neither they or the existing US citizenry assimilate (it works both ways of course). Do you end up with conflict? A more rigid federal strucure (ala Yugoslavia or the USSR)? Walled enclaves? Something like Lebanon? Peaceful coexistence? or a hybrid culture?

It's moving too slowly for a human to tell, but a history book in 150 years would be great to have right now.

90% of the babies born is not 90% of the 12-30 (lol) million immigrants. Your first claim was the latter. That looks to be a pretty big misrepresentation to me.

It appears that after reading this thread those that are backing another amnesty and want secure borders have accomplished what they intended. That being getting their family here illegally and now are ok with the drawbridge being raised and another amnesty for those crafty and corrupt enough to beat the system.

So they think. In the meantime they are all legally deportable.

You believe that?

You don't have to be a citizen to get WIC.

Well, that sentence blows the whole idea out of the water, since we gave up on trying to integrate them once the schools bowed down and allowed them to be taught in their own language instead of in English. How are you going to teach the younger generation to integrate when no efforts are being made to teach them the one skill which would help promote that?
