Let's not forget the Mexican cartels have members who are part of the US Border Patrol....

It does not get better than that!

Remember Marcos Gerardo Manzano, that US citizen who hid his illegal alien father in his basement?

Part of the problem is that we hire all these people (many of them 1st generation Americans of Mexican or Central American descent) and then don't do the proper background checks.

IMO in order to hold any sort of law enforcement position in the US one should be required to be at least a 3rd generation American with no living relatives having ties to a foreign nation. Too many recent immigrants and their immediate offspring have conflicted loyalties. One cannot serve two flags at the same time.

This country needs to get its fricking priorities straight. While the big paper shufflers and keyboard commandos on WallStreet make the big bucks teachers, police, border patrol agents etc........make peanuts. All these rich sluts that live in their gated communities better hope their gates are tall enough and strong enough to keep all the riff raff out. They won't be able to go anywhere. Because that's what this country is coming to. Pay border patrol agents what their worth or hell pay them $100K a year starting and you'll see college kids with PhD's banging down the doors to work.

I happen to stop on Border Patrol the other night and I was struck, over and above my usual complaints, about all the agents being of apparantly Spanish (?) Hispanic (?) origin. They spoke very accented English...Do not any WASPs work any of these jobs......? just curious.

On our Southern border an anglo agent that doesn't speak Spanish is pretty useless and you will see them riding with a Hispanic agent. Pretty normal. It's the Spanish speakers that are doing most of the illegal entry.

The US Border Patrol gets most of their recruits from the border areas, alot of the population down along the border is Hispanic. There has always been a large Hispanic presence in the US Border Patrol but only within the last 10-15 years have they begun to approach the current numbers.

Hispanics hold 52 percent of Border Patrol jobs - Houston Chronicle
According to this article from the Houston Chronicle, about 52% of US Border Patrol agents are Hispanic.
