Because there is no real point since it is the defacto language of the us.
No it isn't. You obviously have not been to the areas of the USA where it is not. And yes employers can discriminate against English speaking black Americans as well as against whites. They can require native Spanish fluency and get by with having 100% hispanic employees.
Where I live Spanish is the de facto language, more jobs require Spanish fluency than English fluency, Walmart announcements are in Spanish. And in California, they're now forcing American kids to learn in Spanish -- not just forced to take Spanish language classes but to have their other classes taught to them in Spanish.

Those areas are the exception not the rule my friends. The fact still remains that english is the defacto language of the us no matter what you might think.

Good question. Making English the official language should not be a problem at all if in fact it is the "de facto" language.
Yes, and it will save us millions in tax dollars not having to print federal government documents in any other language than English. English is part of our heritage and culture so why shouldn't it be made the "official" language of the U.S.? I find those who would object sure don't mind Spanish being the language of Hispanic dominant countries. Why the double standard?
Should English be the official language of the United States? And how far should we go in imposing English on the citizenry and non-citizen resident population?
Are not English the official language of the United States???

Make English the official language of the US. No more of this bilingual bit. Sink or swim; if aliens can't hack it, they can go back home where life's easier.
Are not English the official language of the United States???
Uh, no it isn't. It is our national de facto language but it isn't our "official" language. I believe about 30 states have made English their official language so it should be so on the federal level also.
I like the openness of not restricting the language, it sets the US apart.
Each to their own. If people want to speak their own languages with each other, that's fine but DON'T expect to be catered to an any language but English here in the US. I'm talking about aliens living here, NOT visitors.
