Espinoza, who was brought to the U.S. as a toddler, had just been released from the Los Angeles County Jail on a gun charge the day before Shaw was killed. Shaw's family says if Espinoza had been deported because of his illegal status, Shaw would still be alive.
It will get no attention from the media. After all Espinoza is a Dream Act child, someone brought here illegally and like Shaw's family says, if only he had been deported, Jamiel Shaw would still be alive.
Obama is promising a very very nice reward for all those who get their children over here illegally before age 16. The large spike in illegal children now pouring over the border is creating big problems.

I'm sure you like I hope that they link the issue of illegal immigration as being the major source of America's financial and criminal problems. As for the lack of media attention, unfortunately, I think you're right.

There have been a number of crimes committed by illegal aliens in the SF Bay Area. The shooting deaths of a father and his two sons by an IA who was supposed to be deported, for one But... no.... SF is a so-called Sanctuary City, so we mustn't upset the illegals because then you are branded a racist.

Not sure what the government of the illegal alien sanctuary cities and states are thinking but from what I have been reading all of them are broke and the tax payers are leaving in droves.
As for being able to play the race card, the American public is awakening. Those days are numbered and the numbers are few.
It took 4 years to bring this to trial??? When was Espenoza arrested?
What does his coming to the US as a toddler have to do with his behavior as an adult? Was he denied an education and hence just a misguided child??? Where are is illegal parents??
It appears that the family did everything right as American citizens, including a mother who was in the military.
I don't get how the connection with a gang makes the case any different. If it's proven that he was not a gang member, then what? Is it less of a crime if you murder someone and the killer isn't gang connected? Murder is murder.

A Los Angeles High School football player was shot to death by a gang member because he carried a red Spider-Man backpack that suggested he belonged to a rival gang, a prosecutor told a jury Monday.
Opening statements began Monday in the trial of Pedro Espinoza, who is accused of shooting 17-year-old Jamiel Shaw, Jr. on March 2, 2008, as he talked with his girlfriend on the phone just feet from his Arlington Heights home. Espinoza had been released from jail just two days before Shaw’s murder, after serving time for assault with a deadly weapon.
