Its sad to hear that really. Here, their parents risk getting deported so they can get jobs and their kids may go to school for a chance at a better life and there they go throwing that all away by dropping out. Really, it will take time to fix.

About a year ago I read some where that the drop out rate for hispanics in California was about the same as it is here in Texas...
Not in my town considering my town is over 70% white! and those percentages mostly reflect of illegal immigrants. I am not a son of illegals nor do I ever wish to drop out.
Many don't try to learn English so they just drop out as soon as possible. Then they get on a yard crew or something to make cash.
How can you not know English and be able to past first grade in school and still be old enough to be able to work consruction?! We would have five year old drop outs working construction.
