Lets see the statistics.

Just watch the news nightly and that will be your best statistic.

I now have three blown discs in my back and have suffered permanent sciatic nerve damage as a result of the beating. No one was ever arrested and charged even though I identified the man who had thrown me into the crowd.

Are these the kind of neighbors I want? Are these the kind of people I want my children associating with?

Illegal immigration is one of the big reasons we left California.
Of course no one was ever arrested. And if they had been, you can bet they would have called MALDEF and gotten the charges dropped for one reason or another. Who knows, maybe they would have arrested you instead. (I am serious)

What mystifies me is why we are even discussing granting amnesty to people like this. Why allow people who hate Americans to stay in our country? If we truly do need foreign workers, bring them from SE Asia or Eastern Europe. Or Africa. Let people from other parts of the world who probably live in far worse conditions come here and work. I do not care if Mexico (the largest provider of illegals) is our neighbor. They are a lousy neighbor, IMO. We should look elsewhere if we need foreign workers.

My son was targeted for abuse because of the color of his skin. So was I. Now I don't believe that I deserved that because some white guy enslaved people of color 150 years ago. These two stories illustrate a marked non-assimilation into American society and a lack of respect for Americans in general and unfortunately, it is a sentiment shared far and wide by illegal immigrants, particularly those in California.
I would limit that to Los Angeles. I have lived in Orange County, San Diego and the Bay Area and never witnessed the racial tension like there is in L.A..

If you go 20-30 miles from L.A. to Santa Ana you will see rich diverse areas where illegals live, work hard and don't cause problems. Shoot even in San Diego, which is along the border doesn't have the racist tone that L.A. does.

I beg to differ. I know a guy who was beaten with bicycles by day laborers in the parking lot of a Home Despot in O.C. because they didn't like the fact that their ILLEGAL pick-ups were being filmed for the authorities. Just one incident in several where peaceful demonstrators were attacked by day laborers.

I'm a woman and while I'm not FOR illegal immigration per say, I won't be signing up for the Minutemen anytime soon. I think a lot of the reasons that women are so viscerally against it is based on fear and stereotyping. For instance, some of the things I've seen be cited are fear of rape, children, fear of crime, etc etc. I say, race has no bearing on crime. I was raped by a blond haired, blue eyed all American boy who happened to be high on drugs in broad daylight. Does that mean I'm terrified of all stereotypical white guy? You would call me crazy, eh? Yeah.

As a young female who often is around other young females, I am often in circles that draws attention from groups of men of any age. At least the Mexicans just honk- the rednecks with beer bellies on the construction sites make lewd movements and follow us.

As a kid, I had my hair torn out on the playground, my clothes ripped up, was bullied and beat up on the playground, and had no friends for about 4 years just because I was Jewish. They had me so scared that I wouldn't even tell my parents. Had a cross burned on my lawn as well and was harassed by the local Christian community with constant calls from churches hoping to "save my family from eternal pain and suffering". Guess what, it wasn't the illegals doing this.

All the anecdotes in the world aren't going to change anyone's opinions, and nor should it. For years, the only people who would befriend me were the Hispanic immigrants (legal, illegal, and "anchor babies") because we shared a common thing- our heritages did not assimilate. Apparently holding true to the Jewish religion rather than converting to Christianity is just as bad as not speaking English in some parts of this country. But that's a different thread altogether.

I find just the opposite. I have had my wife, both sister in laws (one was 12 at the incident I saw with her) being followed by Mexicans in the store who are whistling and cat-calling. When I was engaged to my wife I got kicked out of a K-mart because 3 Mexicans were following us walking through the store whistling a saying things in Spanish, and I started a fight with all 3 of them. I'm sure their are "rednecks" who do this also, and many Mexicans who do not, so I don't think it's right to make generizations like that.

BTW: On a side note, I feel that many people on this forum throw around the term "redneck" to be derogitory, a form of racism towards white people, and I find it offensive.

Default “Americans Attacked at Maywood Protest”

Immigration Watchdog » Americans Attacked at Maywood Protest

The Maywood Demonstration is well know to those(such as myself) who lived in So, Ca. at the time. I was with the So, Ca. MinuteMen at the time. I'm now transfered to the OK, chapter.

That was when they took down the US flag in front of a Post Office and raised a Mexican flag in it's place. Antics such as this do absolutely nothing to further their cause.

Good post! Unfortunately the main stream media usually ignores this type of event so we never hear of it.
