Finally a response with some thought behind it. I am not for open borders and have not taken a position on amnesty yet but folks just need to think things through before drawing conclusions.

I never said that. I still haven't made a decision on amnesty either. All I am saying is that we need to think things through before we knee jerk react. What are the consequences and are we as a nation willing to deal with the outcome? I haven't seen any facts either way just opinions and beliefs. That is not enough for me to make a final decision.

There shouldn't EVEN be a decision on your part.. ANYONE with half a brain realizes that allowing 20 million illegals amnesty, and who knows how many more will jump on the bandwagon.. will cost American tax payers MILLIONS.
You don't need your little calculator to figure this out!

Sorry but I do. It is more than just jumping a fence it ALSO has to do with business and the taxes that I pay as well as the cost of living that we have today (excluding recession issues of course). If you think that is all it is then YOU vote accordingly. I personally need more data and information. I don't vote based on rhetoric and banter.

Republican Leaders In Congress Already Destroying Border Fence Bill : Diggers Realm

Speaker Hastert, after boasting of how tough the House of Representatives is on stopping illegal immigration, handed veto power over any future border fence construction to local, state and other political special interests and to President Bush, who opposes putting up any effective border fence.

"The loopholes leave the Bush administration with authority to decide where, when and how long a fence will be built, except for small stretches east of San Diego and in western Arizona," wrote Hsu. "Homeland Security officials have proposed a fence half as long [as what Congress approved]."

The office of Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Tex.) yesterday released a letter from House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) and Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.) promising to ensure that Chertoff has discretion over whether to build a fence or choose other options.
One may wish to characterize the lack of fencing as being the fault of someone other than who is responsible, but that won't make it true.

Default What Fence?

Firstly, if there was going to be a fence built it would have been built already, I am from Phoenix born and raised , this illegal problem has been a problem for decades without any resolve. Reagan didnt do much to help with his amnesty crap and no one has done anything since either. Build the fence , send the illegals packing and move on from there.

a double fence has been started.. San Diego. And there is more going up right now. And land has been granted/approved in areas of Arizona and Texas, so more of the fence can be built... hope they hurry!
