Long overdue.

It does appear we are moving along with taking care of the problem that is illegal aliens. Good! This puts yet another group on notice to pack it up and move it out or get tossed out!

As the article said, the Student Visa is often used as a tool to get in. Many visa holders have no intention of ever going back home, and never intended to in the first place.

A crack down is good common sense policy.
This ought to drive The Left wild!

This is such great news. Time to tackle the visa over stayer problem also. With a better wall on our southern border to deter illegal entry, internal enforcement and removing the incentives for any of them to come here and we will end illegal immigration as we know it. Finally, a light at the end of the tunnel.

This. I keep up with a lot of people from college on Facebook and I knew a LOT of international students. The only ones who went back home after college (and stayed there) were European, and not all of them went home.

The ones from Asia and Latin America all stayed here after graduation. 100% of them.

Two interesting quotes:

Quote:
The new guidance, detailed in a report from the National Law Review, requires applicants to convince U.S. visa officials that they will return home after their visa expires. "The revisions appear to instruct officers to apply a more rigorous -- and, arguably, protectionist -- approach to determining whether an applicant meets the requirements of the visa category in question," said the report.
It's about time! Why wasn't this already being done?

Then it says:

Quote:
For years, consular officers have been instructed to review foreign student applications with a wink and a nod even when it is obvious that the student never intends to go home," she told us..
This is why we have this huge problem now. The idiot who instructed them to do that should be put in jail.

This is a serious secret problem in the USA and is well known and ignored by the schools.

Good! Maybe all the East Europeans and Russians that fill ALL the summertime jobs in this tourist town will get to steppin and return home when there time is up instead of continuing on illegally, taking what few jobs are available here in the wintertime. Sorry if this offends but it sure would be great to start hearing English again and know that those others sharing the roads, (scooters, bikes, pedestrians, etc) actually have some idea of what our US traffic laws are like!
