I would be more worried about someone living in squalor or whose human rights are being violated that would not aspire for a better life. Wanting a better life is human nature. It's a survival instinct. It's a strong desire that none of us bitching on the internet can stop.
I want a better life for my child than the one he has now.

So consequently, when you come home from work today, I will have broken into your house and set my son and myself up in your spare bedroom.

Oh but don't worry, I'll cook dinner every night and I'll tidy up the house. But my son needs some dental work and he's been feeling a little bit under the weather, so I will be expecting you to pay the dental and doctor bills.

Additionally, I can't really afford to buy food, because I don't have a job, so you can buy the groceries, pay the mortgage, pay all of the utilities, buy my son's back to school clothes, and any medications he might need. But don't worry, I'm a hard worker. I'll build that new deck you've always wanted--of course, I can't guarantee the quality as construction is not exactly my forte, but I can give it a stab.

Tomorrow afternoon, my sister and her kids will be moving in too. They don't expect handouts, her husband will mow your lawn in return for housing, food, medical, etc. She only has three kids, that's only an additional seven people you have to support in addition to your own family. You Americans live in the land of plenty--you can afford to share your wealth with me and mine.

Don't bother to lock the door to keep us out. I'm afraid I'd be forced to break in again and you know how much it cost you to replace your front door the last time I was "forced" to break in.

I would not go to Iran given the hostility towards Americans.
The fact that they feel helpless to ask police for help because they know deportation awaits them speaks volumes. It says that they are quite aware of their own crimes.
You're comparing America to the middle east? Interesting. Yeah, sorry but there is a difference, a huge difference. If you don't see that, then I guess what you're saying is that people here share the type of hostility & actions that people in the middle east do. People come here for a better life, they don't come here to get killed. America is not a country that people should be afraid of coming to, but according to you, they should be afraid. According to you, it's their own fault that horrible things happen to them. Interesting how you make no mention of the people who carry out those crimes.

tinman1 is a realist.

I have visited Eastern Europe prior to 1990 when the Commies held sway----------it was not a very nice place and it underlined how good I have it here in the good ol' USA

So being a realist means blaming the victim rather than the perpetrator, ok gotcha.

That's right. And don't forget to tell him that you are there to stay. You are not going anywhere. Just like the illegal tell us.

Sorry your kids aren't learning as fast as they should be because my ESLs are taking up all the personal time in the classroom thanks to NCLB. Oh, and if I happen to rear end you on the freeway don't expect me to stop. Too risky, I'd hate to be deported and have to sneak back over again.

Hey, if you need me I'll be standing in line at the WIC center with anchor1, 2 and 3.

Your Constitution is a wonderful thing.

They're no victim. If they hadn't crossed the border or overstayed their Visa, this never would have happened.
So you tell me who could have prevented it.

How about the PERPETRATORS! I love how this society likes to place the blame on anyone but themselves.
