A federal appeals court ruled the Trump administration must halt a policy of returning migrants along the southern U.S. border to Mexico while their requests for asylum in the U.S. are considered.
The Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, based in San Francisco, on Friday ruled the policy was inconsistent with federal immigration law and U.S. international treaty obligations not to return aliens to countries where their life or freedom would be threatened due to their race, religion, nationality, or political or social affiliations.
The court, in its 2-to-1 ruling, said its decision applied to the entire southern U.S. border.
The ruling is a considerable setback for the Trump administration because it said the remain-in-Mexico policy was one of its most effective in slowing the wave of asylum seekers arriving at the southern border from Central America and elsewhere. Illegal border crossings have fallen more than 75% since their peak in May, around the time when the administration vastly expanded “Remain in Mexico” along the border.
The administration could choose to seek emergency intervention at the Supreme Court, as it has in other immigration cases when it lost in the lower courts.
Immigration and the courts, what a roller coaster.
Is it me or should we question the viability of the 9th Circuit related to illegal immigration actions related to POTUS? A clear pattern of SCOTUS overturning them on this issue is beginning to look like a breach of the 9ths constitutional duties. Perhaps they should be stripped of their authority to invoke nationwide injunctions on the issue until they get their act together.
Illegals are not supposed to be here, period. No US citizen can reasonably assert that they are being damaged in some way because the nation is enforcing the illegal immigration law. They either should erase the borders or plug their holes. And if they do, they should be lined up, the second they call on the military to save their sorry arses in the aftermath.
The ACLU should concern themselves with Americans getting the shaft from outsourcing, unfair trade deals, the rich being able to hide trillions offshore, Silicon Valley having a workforce that is only 2% black, despite having corporations among them worth over a trillion $$. Isn’t it a civil liberty to not have the planet turn into a cesspool? How about what the drug war did to this country. Where was the ACLU and the 9th circuit?
This country is a hypocritical oaf. No wonder the liberals don’t mind the rich getting richer. They seem to be the group where the wealthy absolutely hold the vessels of power. If certain conservatives would calm the f down about US citizen black people and women, it would be over for the two faced liberals.
"The Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, based in San Francisco," which is where the dems alway run to.
Thankfully it is about to end as trump replaces more of their judges.
"A federal appeals court in California on Friday initially blocked a centerpiece of the Trump administration's network of restrictive policies at the southern border, ordering officials there to stop sending asylum-seekers to Mexico, where tens of thousands of Latin American migrants returned by the U.S. have been stranded for months.
But later on Friday, the same court temporarily paused its own order, granting an emergency request filed by Trump administration lawyers who rushed to defend the controversial Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP) program. "
Can we have them stay at your house? Whats your address? Can you give them allowance too, to feed 15 of their kids? Please...I feel bad for these people...

Oh this is probably the dumbest argument that I have ever heard. If you want them gone so bad, then you can pony up the millions of dollars of your own personal money to do it.
And no a country is not a house, the laws defining both are different. I could care less what you did for 30 years, that was your choice.
Wow, this is the best news ever! If they are seeking asylum here, then they should be allowed to stay here.
Tens of thousands "asylum seekers" walk through other countries to reach America to claim asylum and this is wrong. If there is a war or something happening in Nicarugua then should people fleeing the violence be allowed to bypass the safer countries of Honduras, El salvador, Guatemala etc.. just to reach America, a country they know will hand out everything they want? We all know that they are taking advantage of our gullible generosity.
The backlog from these asylum seekers is ridiculous and it can take many months for their case to be heard which means they are either detained at the border or are set free and allowed to roam the country with only a promise that they will return for their hearing.
How many actually return and how many just disappear into our country?
The Democrats with their feel good policies will be our great undoing and it all comes down to the fact that no one wants to be the "bad guy" that actually enforces our immigration laws.
What is really odd is the Dems tell us that America is a horrible terrible place full of racism and all other "isms" yet the world would gladly come here for the handouts. I don't get it?
I'm glad that this initial ruling has been suspended for now so that the Supreme Court can take it on.
And let's be clear. Without the Supreme Court regularly bench slapping courts for failing to halt their rulings in contentious cases like this whole the government appeals, I'm skeptical that the 9th Circuit would have done so here. So yet another win for our president via his federal court appointees and another win for our country.
