"(The Center Square) – Since President Joe Biden took office and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas altered federal immigration policies, roughly 5 million people from over 150 countries have entered the U.S. illegally, according to U.S. Customs and Border Patrol data and border agents who provide "gotaway" numbers to The Center Square."

"The 5 million figure includes 3.9 million who have been apprehended entering the U.S. illegally nationwide and 3.4 million at the southern border. It also includes a minimum of 900,000 gotaways though that number is likely higher, Border Patrol agents and law enforcement officials have told The Center Square."

While they wait, from what I gather from reading about SSI, and other benefits, they can receive benefits of cash assistance, medical, etc., while over 1/2 million US citizens are homeless, while the elderly wait for services that help them remain in their homes, while those with mental health issues go without treatment or end up waiting for funding to come through, while people with physical and developmental disabilities are placed on waiting lists of up to 10+ years before they can get services..............

Years ago, in the 1990s, when we were in SW AZ, the border patrol said that approximately 30,000 were crossing per month illegally into the USA.

Now, anyone that thinks securing that border, no matter how much it would cost, would not save us money needs to go back to elementary school and study math!

Try going to any ER here in So. Calif. Tons of Latinos waiting to be treated. Granted they aren't all illegal aliens but you know darned will that a lot of them are along with their kids here illegally and their anchor babies. I know an American who sat in a wheel chair for 15 hours waiting to be treated. He ended up having gall bladder surgery once they found out what was wrong with him.

I have heard that where they are a lot of illegals, it is impossible to be seen in a reasonable amount of time in emergency rooms as the care if "FREE FOR THEM". The emergency room costs a lot of money too! I was told by my son's case manager (he has developmental disabilities) that the contractor for Medicaid here told the service provider to stop using the emergency room so much! She said that when someone stopped breathing, they were taking them to the emergency room!

I just read an article where they also get FREE FOR THEM urgent care. They can also use sliding fee clinics, without questions being asked about their immigration status - but how do they do that? When we take our son to appointments, we have to show a state ID whether it is a sliding scale clinic, urgent care or the office of a physician! See I would think twice about using the same services due to cost even when insured.

I know in some states, they charge a minimum fee just to discourage people who really don't need medical care. When something is "free to them", they tend to abuse it!

When they have kids in tow that have the sniffles they come first for treatment even before an elderly veteran. It's disgusting!

What 5 million? There is no evidence that the Biden administration has allowed 5 million illegal immigrants to enter the country.

From the center square article:

"The 5 million figure includes 3.9 million who have been apprehended entering the U.S. illegally nationwide and 3.4 million at the southern border. It also includes a minimum of 900,000 gotaways though that number is likely higher, Border Patrol agents and law enforcement officials have told The Center Square."

Those people who were apprehended were generally not admitted, but immediately deported under Title 42 or Title 8. In addition, the numbers do not match what the CBP shows on their site. Additionally, some percentage of the ones that were tossed back to Mexico were repeat offenders.

Don't try to conflate illegal aliens coming here with the homeless. The causes of homelessness are many and varied, and have almost nothing to do with immigration.

Initial emergency room care is free for anyone who cannot pay. ER's have to treat people to get them stabilized, because that is the law. If the patient doesn't have an emergency, they may have to wait days to see a doctor in the ER, depending on the location.

Cities and counties can reduce the cost of this by opening clinics that see none emergency patients, and have the ERs tell the non-emergency patients to go to the clinics.

No, it's not! The ER is for emergencies only. It's not for some illegal alien whose child has the sniffles.

They already have clinics for non-emergencies they are called Urgent Care but you do have to pay a fee if you don't have insurance and since that's the case that's why these illegals and their broods tie up our ER's!

When one also factors how many eluded the BP, then the number is even higher than 5 million.

The ones that were caught and sent back across the border under Title 8 and Title 42 are part of that 5 million. They were NOT admitted to the US and allowed to stay.
