I agree. If the country is open to anyone that can walk across the Border than why not just let everyone fly in or boat in too?
At least those that come in by plane or ship have the money to buy a ticket unlike the Millions that have shown up with nothing but the clothes on their backs expecting to be taken care of...
I saw an interesting meme this morning. It said, remember when they shut down everything due to Covid? They never shut the Border...

If people can freely cross the southern border, why do travelers still have to go through Customs at the airport and border crossings? Why not simply eliminate it altogether and save a lot of money, time, space, etc.
I'm not advocating open borders. I'm just fed up with the charade of the government forcing some to go through the hassle of Customs, while allowing others free range.
(I'm using the term customs to refer to customs, immigration and agriculture.)
Having to go thru customs about, darn I don't remember how many times, but a lot over 25 years of company travel. Less now in Europe when they became the EU.
A lot of countries still require a visa including entering the US from certain countries. Less now than years ago.
The First time in Europe way back in the 60's to travel to another European country by car you even had to show a passport and a car insurance card.
China you need a visa and a travel need. I think China has relaxed that requirement a bit. In Canada if traveling for work required reason you have to show documentation that the work can not be done by a Canadian citizen. It goes on and on and it seems some countries don't really care and other go out of their way to charge money, keeping ones passport until bribes are paid. Especially in some African countries.
Now to clarify a bit, I traveled for work reason and the rules for travel pleasure are some what different. Most countries don't want you there on work related reason if it can be shown that local workers can do the work. Tourist are welcome to come and spend their money.

If I remember right when a foreigner comes into the country by Air or water they have to show a return ticket. Not sure if that still applies.

U.S. Passport holders will need a visa to travel to Europe in 2024.

What do you think is the significance of this fact??
