In a surprising admission Thursday, NBC's Chuck Todd said that Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott was "right" when he said bussing migrants to blue cities would turn Democratic politicians against the Biden administration and pressure the White House to get control over the border.
During a preview of an upcoming segment on "Meet the Press," Todd discussed New York City's "growing humanitarian crisis" as officials grapple with an influx of migrants overwhelming city shelters and draining its resources. As Todd spoke, images of migrants camped out on New York City streets appeared onscreen beside a frustrated Mayor Eric Adams.
"Coming up, New York City's growing humanitarian crisis. The shelter system, slammed by an influx of migrants. New calls for federal help. I guess Greg Abbott was right," Todd told viewers. "He said once he got blue cities to deal with this, that they would be very upset at the federal government."
We s;houldn't be using people as pawns in a political fight.
Abbott should hve worked harder with Trump and then Biden to create strategies to deal with the issue along his border.
Putting people on a bus and dumping them in your political opponent's district is not the way to solve problems.
So yes it might have worked eventually -- but does that mean Abbott couldn't manage the problem better?
You don’t know what you’re talking about.
I’m sure Abbot was 100% behind the wall. Abbott is not to blame that it wasn’t built.
Securing national borders is the responsibility of the federal government. Governors are not to blame. As it is, Abbott is implementing new strategies out of desperation, which the federal government should be supporting. Border state governors are DESPERATE for border control.
If Abbott gave a dam about illegals he would license contractors in Texas. As it is anybody who can get work is a contractor. They hire illegals. Texas has done nothing to stop that.
The state has no clue who is working in Texas or where, unless they tell him. Or are caught by the feds, like Shipley donuts or years ago Pappas restaurants.

The left was happy using people as pawns so long as they didn't have to deal with the influx of folks in their own backyards. It was virtue signaling at its finest. Of course, when leftists actually had to deal with the result of the policies they gladly support, many of them are now singing a different tune, exposing themselves for the hypocrites honest people always knew they were.

To the contrary, it seems to have done just that (or at least opened a serious national conversation on the matter) when nothing else did. It wasn't too long ago that leftists were claiming that there was "no emergency" on the border Of course, the media let them spread that lie. Kind of hard to do with scenes like this out of NYC and elsewhere, though.

So, opening the border is the way to solve the problem (as long as it's not in your city)?
Or wait, was it not a problem until they WERE bused around the United States? That's why sanctuary cities are now complaining, why is that?
