I seem to recall it was MAGA Republicans that tried the overthrow on Jan 6. Many of that ilk are making idle threats the attempted overthrow will be more serious if Trump doesn't win the next election. Maybe we should enlist all those military aged illegals to ward off the REAL insurrectionists.
Neither Party is telling you the truth. For a population to be stable, you need 2.1 children per adult female. The USA is at 1.7. That means the population becomes smaller, it ages and you end up with more and more people old and retired. This is a real problem with all the baby boomers retiring. There are two ways to fix it. The Republicans with their xenophobic views (Noem; When you become an American, call me) have gone with abortion bans. Very draconian abortion bans. They figure that will prevent the population drop as women will be forced to have babies. I am surprised they are not doing like Putin and offering medals for having kids. That will help 20 years from now as those kids enter the work force and start paying into Social Security. But it will be too late to really help. The Democrats, the ones that gave us Social Security and Medicare, have a vested interest in not having them fail. They realize we need workers NOW, not in 20 years. So they opened the borders so we can add millions of workers each year, people who will start paying into the SS and Medicare funds and keep it solvent. So you have Democrats pointing at the draconian abortion laws pushed by the Republicans and the Republicans point at the "open borders" of the Democrats. Neither party is telling you the real truth about these two policies because they do not want you to know what a mess we are in. And neither one want to rock the boat to the extend their two policies get shut down. So do not look for a compromise, we need the workers one way or the other.
Forget the stupid labels. You’re either for a secure border and safe country or you’re not. Pick a lane. Any other mumbo jumbo and you’re just spinning marbles around in your mouth.
We don't need more population, and if we did, we could simply increase the number of legal immigrants coming in, as they are on the list and available for the taking.
We have a shortage of housing, water and food combined to a shortage of jobs that pay enough to support one's self, thus those people are supplemented by the taxpayers, who are already strained with Bidenflation.
What kind of jobs that pay enough to live on are available. High tech? I just read that 2 or 3 of the top companies are going to lay off a bunch of them this year. Lower levels jobs like fast food (becoming mechanized and too expensive, so we'll see some closings), cleaning buildings (many office buildings have closed, workers are either terminated or working at home), meat industry (mechanized and also high cost is reducing demand), and any job that pays a living wage will be one a citizen is being kicked out of to make room for the illegal alien - and I have seen it done that way.
Our schools weren't doing well to begin with, and now, "English As A Second Language" will suck down excessive dollars as it takes about 20%+ to educate a non-English speaking child.
The cost of criminal investigations due to the presence of illegal aliens. The murders! The rapes! The drunk driving death cases! Hit and runs - just move to an area they have infested, and you'll see your car insurance go up!
The cost of their emergency medical which is in the billions each year! It includes birthing the anchor baby, and then raising it, while they live in public housing and dad works under-the-table, or with a stolen identity of an American citizen.
Remember, Trump promises if (when) elected the largest deportation effort in the history of our country. Vote 2024 for the save, otherwise, we are done!

Unsustainable drivel. According to you Japan should be a dystopian nightmare 15 years ago. Try again..

What intelligent and convincing arguments you make!
As you might notice the 'with us or against us' styled arguments fall flat on more complex issues.

At least you are bringing some rational thought to this topic and that's a lot more than we usually see here on P&OC II, which is generally the same few dozen NewsMax mesmerized zealots saying in one way or another, "it's Biden's fault", blah blah blah. (I took the liberty of adding some paragraph breaks in your comments).
But you are painting a false equivalency here. Democrats have brought meaningful immigration reform to the table several times; under Obama's Presidency, and now the latest package under Biden which delivers to "Republicans" everything they ever dreamed about. Not that this proposal is perfect, but it would go a long way down the path toward addressing this crisis.
Its been said before but clearly MAGA Republicans have no interest in passing meaningful reform under Biden's watch, as this has some small risk of handing him a political lever he can wield before the election. It's just another illustration of MAGA politicians putting their careers ahead of governing our country. As long as the Trump syndicate leads the Right, that is not going to change.
Witness McConnell stepping aside next fall, he is sick and tired of this charade and you really can't blame him.
I try to avoid substantive conversations with individuals who are having difficulty grasping fundamentals.
That is an excuse, you try to shunt viewpoints that don't line up entirely with your own. That is a hallmark of 'with us or against us' mentality. It isn't convincing when points are dismissed and unaddressed.

Perhaps you're unclear, but a secure border and safe country is something I imagine every citizen would want. It is non-negotiable. When it comes to my safety or yours, or our neighbors, friends, families, coworkers, even adversaries or competitors, what exactly is there to argue about in that regard? Do you like chaos?

Wow import a foreign army to genocide American citizens. Sounds like an insurrection or something like that.
