I really do want to know. I would like to toot our horn for Californians...
we welcome anyone from any state. I wasn't born here but I've lived
here for 46 years. I moved with my parents when I was three. That's
a pretty long time and I consider myself a native but I don't think I own
California. California is up for grabs for anyone who wants to move here.
What makes Oregon any different?
Well I never had a problem with any of them, I got bored of Oregon and moved. But, it is maily because they move there and do nothing but complain about the weather" it's to cold, or it's to wet, it rains too much, or traffic or not getting things they do in Cali. Cali this and Cali that. They get tired of them just complaining al the time, if you liked Cali so much why did you move. Oregonians have to get over the growth issues, they have a hard time adjusting to it. But honestly it is the complaining.

you spoke of... you can believe they would be sneaking in too.
People from impoverished nations are always trying to escape to a
better life. It's just usually it's harder. Normally you would have
to get on a boat or travel long, long distances. Mexico is our
neighbor and it's fairly easy to get over.
Once again, America is a nation with borders. I fear you may have difficulty comprehending the concept of a national border. Having a border means if you want to immigrate here, you enter our country through the proper procedures. The fact that we have Mexico as our neighbor in no way justifies millions of Mexican citizens entering our country ilegally. Do you understand why this flouting of our laws makes Americans angry?

It sounds like you live in a bad area. I feel bad for you ..I've

I live in a nice area and I am doing everything I can to see that it remains a decent place for my neighbors and my family to live. We have all worked very hard for what we have.

Again, I'm not advocating illegal
immigration... I am pretty sure no one on this forum is for it.
After reading many of the posts here, I would conclude the opposite. There are a number here who seem to be actively advocating the continued influx of illegals and justify their presence with multiple different excuses.

I just am not going to hate them for coming over
because frankly, I feel darn lucky to be born here and I feel it was
just a matter of winning the lottery of locations. You know...luck
of the draw that I'm not over there and some senora is over here instead
of me. I'll support anything our government can do to control the
problem. I'm just going to keep respecting the hard working people
I run into throughout my daily life untill they do figure something out.
In the meantime I figure with all the money they spend back into the
economy with the super low wages they make... well I'm just going to
consider it a wash with the medical benefits. I see them spending money
everywhere. Must be because more than one familiy to a house, with even low wages
they can still spend and send some back home.
Show me. Show me hard evidence of the tremendous financial contributions this group of people make to the economy. Facts and figures. Considering 'it a wash with the medical benefits' is the most hilarious thing I have heard yet. I have posted reams of information on the closures of hospitals and ERs that collapse due to unreimbursed care to illegal aliens. Furthermore, if they can send remittances home, why not pay their bills here? They have starving relatives? I may have a starving relative but I am still expected to pay for care I receive. A payment plan will be worked out that takes these difficult circumstances into account but ultimately I am expected to pay. How come these folks just walk away from their medical bills? Do you see why American citizens resent this?

I'm just not a hater...
it's Uncle's Sam's problem to figure out and I'll support whatever they
come up with. In the meantime I do mow my own back yard and I'm
pretty sure my association hires legal landscapers. I can only do
what I can do... but I'll continue to do what I believe is right. Treat all
people respectfully. Getting the government to come up with a solution or
solutions should be everyone's new agenda.
There are many Americans who love our country and are willing to do whatever is necessary to defend her. I am one of them.

La Quinta is a very nice city and people might make good money, but I think La Quinta's opinions are coming from observation and experience, not her status. Your opinions come from observation and experiences as well. I am in the 1% of America, because my father is a wealthy man, I don't brag this, but my experiences and observations shape my opinions and views, not my status.

Andreabeth... maybe in your next life you'll be born in one of those
Countries or even Mexico and then you will have that choice...
and you could proudly show everyone while your family is suffering
how great you are, that you can proudly stay within all laws. Now
if that were to happen I would be the first to applaud you. Oh, and
the "hilarious" figures I'm talking about are all the money that is passed
to the consumer for the workers less than minimum wage jobs..yes, it is
passed to you but the buiness owners, aren't going to report how much
money they save using illegals are they?? And the tax they pay on
everything they buy.. and the money the flood into the economy buying things
here. UHHH.. no one has any stats on those. I guess you can figure out why right? Now if you want to talk about how to figure out solutions
instead of the problems they cause everytime you get on, then bring
it on. But if you want to rile people up with hatred well, people will
always oppose that. You think you have to convince people there is
a problem. I agree. You don't have to convince me or anyone else.
There IS a problem. I'm pretty sure we all see it. But what is the Government
going to do about it. That's the "billion" dollar question.

I've heard this before. I swear if I ever move out of state I'm
going to concentrate on the reason's I left... too much traffic,
everything too fast paced etc. If there isn't a Starbucks I'll
zip my lip. I mean... when and if I leave I'll be looking for a slower
pace of life and I'm smart enought to realize I'll be leaving alot
of ammenities behind. Give me fresh air, pine tree's and an
open road.. and I'll give up Starbucks, malls and blockbusters!
Thanks for the info.

Really? This is good to hear. We're moving to the central coast
most likely and I thought about taking the kids ( who are almost
grown) by train up there. They think Seattle looks like a fun place
and my son wants to live there someday. It's funny because,
I've been to a few states but not Oregon or Washington. We
just never go up that way and I know it's beautiful.

Are you talking about the movie Goonies? I think my kids
watched that 50 times but I never really paid attention
much. I'll have to go rent it! So that was filmed in Astoria. I have
one important question. Do they hate California's up there?
haha... I'm definitly going to take the kids up to Seattle
now. You've convinced me. I have always wanted to
go see that fish market where they throw the fish to each
other. (I forgot the name) and the
whale watching sounds fantastic.

Yes Goonies was filmed in Astoria.

Seattle hate Californians? No I dont believe so, it is very diverse, unlike Oregon. I dont hate Californians, I love many parts of California and have met some very nice people from there my brother is a sat member in Glendale. I never blamed them for hating the weather, I did too, born and raised in it gets old. I just laughed when they complained, like "you thought different?" Oregon isnt known for much else!!LOL
