Border agents who shot smuggler denied appeal (illegally, laws, Mexican)

theyre job is too aprehend people. if it is impossible then its impossible. to what extent can use of force be used on some one who poses no threat to you.
is it ok that they shot someone as they ran away?
i dont condone the behaviour of the smuggler. but what threat did he pose?
whenever a peace officer discharges their gun, it must be reported. when they pull their batton it must be reported (which is incidentally why its common practice to use fists and elbows. you dont have to include that in a report).
these guys should have covered there buttocks.
they didnt. they shot some thug. the thug lived to tell. and now they are suffering the consequnces.
the law figured out what to do. you guys just dont agree with it.

Some people are like coons in the night, you can't see them and thus it's better to pretend you can't hear them rattling the garbage cans.
In all fairness to The one, I myself did not know JDubsMom was black and I have commented on a lot of her threads. Also in fairness I cannot say weather or not the coon comment was meant to be racially charged. I can say I get the analogy and it works with raccoons or possums. I think the one should just try and be a little more careful with his/her posts. Things are easily misconstrued on the forum sometimes, especially when it seems the poster has past links to racial remarks. On the other hand, had the one simply used the proper form of the word coon, which would be raccoon I don't think there would have been the slightest problem. So while I can't speak for this poster I am willing to give the benefit of the doubt that it was simply an analogy and nothing more. So don't make me a liar later on down the road the one, I sort of went to bat for you here. And for anyone who was offended by that comment, don't let it get to you to much. Just keep in mind that it very well may have been an honest mistake and not meant to have racial overtones. Just a bad choice of words.
PS Using words like homegirl is not helping my case here!

I KNOW this is a very sensitive issue. I am also a very interested party in what is to come. However, I also realize that things can get taken out of context.
I'd like to think we can give each other the benefit of the doubt, even if we suspect someone has an agenda.
Please, (pretty please?), try and discuss things rationally and not take things out of context? I think if we try to stay "within the lines" discussions can be much more productive.

thanks. i do not have a history of racial attacks. i do not use racial taunts to insult. thats juvenile. and its not good debate.
we are pretty much anonymous here. i dont even know if you Readstomuch are a man or woman. black brown or white. or anyone for that matter.
the only people i know anything about are myself and those like AMC or Benicar who have communicatd with me directly. even then my knowledge of them is limited. and it only stays in the context of the private convo. i wouldnt bring marriage status or kids into it unless it was already mentioned publicly in this thread by that person. i dont beleive in draggin all that stuff from other threads or direct messages sent. people have done that to me. its taste less. i stick to the subject at hand.
having said that. i didnt mean to make this into a racial thing. my analogy was for night creatures. not black people.
but i will defintely use racoon instead of coon
and if it makes it better i will use possum.
or is it opossum.
i truncate words quite a bit. in doing so i can see how it can lead to misinterpretation.
but i dont use racial taunts. especially not black ones. that would be making fun of my kids...

as for "homegirl", i use that in a friendly "homeboy" sense. kinda like Girl!!! i tried to ease some of the tension i saw rising. tried to make it friendlier. next time ill just say buddy.

EL PASO, Texas (AP) -- Two former Border Patrol agents convicted of shooting a drug smuggler and trying to cover it up have been denied a request for a new hearing.
The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans denied the request by Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean on Wednesday. The same court upheld the men's convictions in July.
No reason was given for the Wednesday's denial.
Ramos and Compean are each serving sentences of more than 10 years for shooting Osvaldo Aldrete Davila in the buttocks while he was fleeing from an abandoned marijuana load in 2005.
Aldrete was sentenced to 9 1/2 years in prison for his role in two seperate smuggling efforts later that same year.

What is unbelievable is that they only got 91/2 yrs they should have received life .
We are a civilized society we can not tolerate border guards like this .
They deserve it, wonder how many others they may have shot just have not been found.
Judging from the tons of drugs being seized and the decapitated bodies spilling over the border, apparently they haven't shot or killed enough of them.
