Not only is it within the power of the IRS to revoke (rescind) non-profit status, but it can be retroactively . . which means, back taxes owed, with penalties and interest.
Verify this is a non-profit organization :

There is political activity by this so-called priest.
And you are right, this is not a social or moral issue, it's about criminal activity, harboring, aiding and abetting, and additionally, this so-called priest is advocating law enforcement take a hands-off approach to those involved with identity theft and document fraud.
Hit them!
Now if we could just find the few remaining judges and government officials who still believe in the rule of law to stop this madness, we just might survive this nightmare. I won't hold my breath waiting though.
Mind reader. I was thinking that as I read it. I think they canceled it because they heard ICE was going to be in the area (aka Little Village) picking up a new found ID "salesman".
Oh nooooo!!!
It's the Little Village People again!
Hombre
Are you new to this town
I say, hombre
Throw your trash on the ground
etc.
Once we survive the economic downturn; I think as a people we will be both better off and quite possibly happier as well
If nothing else, we should be far more wiser and less trusting of our elected officials. At least until we thoroughly clean house, and I don't mean just dusting off a few bodies. I mean heard 'em up and move 'em out to the unemployment lines.

The IRS will take the complaint. It's just that simple.
This non-profit organization, is involved with politics trying to influence legislation. There's press releases, gathering people for petitioning, marches, etc. What more proof do you need? And this is not the first time this organization has done this, i.e.,
"We have proof now," said Father Landaverde in a press release, "that the Chicago Police Department is asking for papers and submitting people to immigration authorities in violation of Mayor Harold Washington's I-85 executive order and the city of Chicago's Sanctuary Resolution from 2007 forbidding that practice.""
". . On one hand, the church is trying to ease the crisis for the families, and on the other, it is seeking legal and political means "
re: "so-called" Priest : Jose Landaverde The Chicago pol/ICE connection | SocialistWorker.org ". . the Mission has also provided a place to organize resistance to poli-migra. Family members of those illegally detained have joined with activists in the immigrant rights movement to compile a list of names of those held by ICE and deliver it to Chicago aldermen. Together, activists and the victims' families have demanded action to end the violation of the city's sanctuary policy."
Keep going?

By the way, the mission is physically harboring, and thereby aiding and abetting illegal aliens too.

The problem is enforcement. While the flames under the pot are getting higher, the temperature surrounding those who aid and abet isn't quite hot enough . . YET.
Father Jose Landaverde of Our Lady of Guadalupe Mission urged his Chicago parishioners to rally against Simcox’s presence on campus the day of the speech. Landaverde, predictably, referred to the border security leader as a “modern day Nazi” and as a “racist.” The press release also declared that “Chris Simcox and the Minute Men represent the worst of the American spirit.”

Students from DePaul and other campuses chanted, “What do we want? Legalization! When do we want it? Now!” and “Money for jobs and education—Stop the racist deportations!” They rallied for several hours in front of the building where Simcox was speaking.
It's amazing because Mexico is supposedly a Catholic country but none of these clergy want to question why a Catholic country is so difficult for it's citizens to stay in.
It's time these clergy consider returning home to Mexico and think about working for justice there, but their intention seems to be only to destroy the laws and borders of the USA.
If they really cared, they'd realize that none of this helps those who are left behind in Mexico, they really need to take their "justice" talk to Mexico and help build that into a place where it's people can stay.
Apparently there have been many catholics murdered throughout latin america -- including mexico -- expressly for having been catholic priests or nuns.
Better a live agitator then a dead martyr may just be the 'good fathers' motto.
