"A controversial amendment that would require the Census Bureau to ask for the first time whether people are in the USA illegally is headed for a Senate vote Wednesday."
Now, let's think about this for a minute- if you were in the country illegally, would you state that fact to the guy standing at the door taking the census???
I think it's a great idea, personally, because if- by chance- some of the illegals are dumb enough to say "si, I and my 15 children are all here illegally", we can send INS over to pick them up the next day.
Personally, I think the census should be conducted just like voter registrations where one has to provide proof of citizenship to vote or to be counted on a census.
Isn't the census supposed to be a scientific excersise? It would seem like if it was to get an accurate result you would count everyone. Seems like grandstanding to me.

The population count is used to allocate congressional seats, we wouldn't count tourists so why Illegal Alien migrants?

That's kind of a great idea. Use census workers to ID people when they're taking the census. People who cannot produce proper gov't id get added to a database of possible criminal aliens. Further investigation/action can then be taken by law enforcement.
because of resources used, moneys allocated, etc etc...
OMG! Are you really admitting that illegal aliens actually USE our precious resources and our hard-earned tax dollars?
Reading your posts I have the impression that they just hide in the shadows, floating in mid-air, and holding their breath...just 'contributing' to American society, NEVER taking!
I don't think they should be counted in the census. If individual states lose money or are not allocated enough federal aid to provide services to their citizens, then maybe that can serve as an impetus for governors and congresspeople to work more closely with ICE to clear the freeloaders from their cities, states, and ultimately the whole country.
