"Many of our members oppose comprehensive amnesty because of their faith," says Colleeen Holmes, executive director of Eagle Forum, the conservative group founded by Phyllis Schlafly. "But this is really about conservatism versus liberalism, and conservatism says you need rule of law." The Eagle Forum opposes a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants.
So, it is really only a select few. It is not the majority.
Poverty builds religion. Religion builds profit for the Evangelical.
Hmmmm? makes you think deeper into the motive, for a few.

Some of these so-called religious organizations would endorse the devil himself if it meant money in their collection plates. They have become big business and subscribe to the ‘greed’ doctrine – nothing more, nothing less.

Some Freedom Federation members, however—like Eagle Forum—remain strongly opposed to comprehensive immigration reform. Others, like Family Research Council Action, are still determining their position.
Yea, groups like the eagle forum are indeed the minority in the evangelical community concerning this issue.
They ARE a charitable organization. As such, they wouldn’t be expected to require ID or proof of citizenship. However, there is a HUGE difference between being charitable and endorsing amnesty. That is where they draw the line. If they were pro-illegal they would endorse this – which they clearly don’t.
I am a staunch anti-illegal, but I wouldn’t deny ANY human being water if they were dying from thirst, or a morsel of food if they were starving.
Agreed.
I am very anti illegal immigration as well. But I would never deny any human water or food as well.
The church can help out by GIVING up their tax-exempt status and paying taxes like the giant corporations they actually are. If the evangelical, Mormon, Anglican and Catholic branches of Christianity actually started paying taxes on their vast property holdings and huge bank accounts, we could afford to house every citizen of the world in a 200-room mansion with a few Bentleys parked in front and 10-course gourmet meals for all.
If these Jesus corporations paid taxes there would be no need for immigration illegal or otherwise since every nation on earth would be uber-rich and well able to provide a luxury lifestyle for their citizenry
