As I have commented on many times in the past: outside of Latin America or Spain; Spanish is not an important language---------if anything, it ranks below French let alone the lingua franca of the world AKA English.
Why I say that an English speaking Mexican citizen can be understood the world over whereas if he spoke Spanish; he would be out of luck in even the Philippines (English/Tagalog)---------despite that nation being a Spanish colony till 1898 (100 years ago) and it still following many aspects of Hispanic culture.
This is America we speak English maybe not as proper as you would like but for the most part you can understand me, If I were to come to your house and you always take your shoes off when you enter it and I don’t, should you change for my benefit or should I as a guest follow your rules and remove my shoes. Why should we have to learn their language, they want to come here and live amongst us, then if they cannot communicate it is not our fault, we did not make a raid across the border and kidnap them and force them to come here they want to be here. (Hell they sneak in all the time) they should want to learn the language and if not then go home.

Please provide proof of your claim that 34.5 million people speak Spanish at home in the U.S. Do not include illegal aliens either as they don't count in this country in regards to language usage by Americans in this country.

As it is: many Hispanics are indeed White and; since it is starting to be politically incorrect to be Latino due to growing prejudice against them courtesy of the illegal aliens-----------more and more Mestizos are going to starting claiming 'White' out of self preservation. Too; the birthrate is plunging among at least Americans of Mexican, etc. heritage.
Final point: at least here in Arizona; those illegal alien losers are still leaving. The anecdotal evidence is all around me
