we are going to be moving the ottawa , illinois area from New Mexico.does anyone have any info on the area.or have any info on renting a more mid to upscale home ?? i am desperate !!! will be doing a move within a month.we ahve no children...so we just wantt a decent area and school s are not into question...

Without knowing what you're looking for, specifically, I'd say it probably fits most people's qualifications for a "decent" area. It's in farm country, not particularly cosmopolitan by any stretch, if you're not aware of that. It's also located in the Illinois River valley, which sets it apart, along with other river towns near it, from the surrounding agricultural landscape, in that it's forested and more scenic, and has more outdoor rec options than many surrounding communities.

It's a county seat town, and reasonably prosperous by rural IL standards. It is becoming increasingly developed as a bedroom-ish community for suburban Chicago (though I'd never make that drive myself), and major expansion efforts are on the rise for their hospital facility, etc. It's close enough to the metro area to not feel cut off from a larger picture, if that's important to you. Can get into the city easily.
