We are moving to Hennepin to start our new jobs in construction and we need a place to live. Ideally we are looking for a 2 bedroom house to rent-price range $450-800/per month. Does anyone know of any vacancies? Also what are the names of the newpapers in the area? Finally what are the names of the school districts? Please respond.

There are always houses for rent listed in the local papers. You'll have no trouble finding a place in that price range. The biggest newspaper in the area would be the News Tribune, and there is also a smaller local paper, the Putnam County Reporter, I believe.

Can't help you on the schools.

Hennepin is in Putnam County hence the Putnam County School District. Are you looking to live in Hennepin or are you willing to live outside of it? If you like a lake community, check out Lake Thunderbird in Putnam County. The residents attend the schools in Henry, IL.--a 10 minute bus ride. There are many homes for sale but it's worth your time to see if any are available for rent. It's a membership only community surrounding Lake Thunderbird. The lots are very spacious and surrounded by woods. The "No Hunting" gives residences ample opportunity to see wildlife of all kind. My father owned a home in Lake Thunderbird and continually witnessed deer in his back yard especially when he placed a salt lick on one of his trees.
Princeton is a 20 minute drive from Hennepin. Check out the thread "I LOVE my town: 2 hours from Chicago". It's is described in full: although one of the posts is way off in my opinion.
Hennepin is an extremely small town. I've been there numerous times as there is a boat dock on the Illinois river. They also have nice fireworks set off over the river on the 4th of July.
The post previous to mine is correct about the local newspapers with of course the addition of the Bureau County Republican. My advice would be to check out Princeton. It truly is a lovely community. Perhaps calling it "a modern day Mayberry" is a stretch but for the size and rural location, it has much to offer.
Welcome to the area!

Default Found a Place in Sheffield-Need Job for Wife

Thank you for the apt. help. I need a job around the Princeton area, give or take 30 miles. I have searched in all the local newspapers for jobs, slim pickings. I am listed as a substitute teacher in all the surrounding schools but am lucky if I am called more than twice a week. Help! Any suggestions?
